According to Sony Ericsson, early adopters of the new Xperia Play – also known as the PlayStation Phone – have little to worry about concerning the launch library. Sixty games were released for the Play, which also just came out today around the world – except in the United States. The device, currently tagged to Verizon, is still a few weeks out.
What can players expect? Not only are the bigger names in mobile gaming supporting the Play – such as Electronic Arts, Gameloft, and Glu Mobile – but Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is also coming out swinging with a host of classic PSone games. Already in the Android Market are:
* Cool Boarders 2
* MediEvil
* Destruction Derby
* Jumping Flash
* Syphon Filter
Apparently, this is just the start. Many more PSone classics are headed to the Play as well as future Android handsets that are certified to participate in the PlayStation Suite, which is a Sony standard for mobile gaming. Plus, look for exclusives in the future to hit the Play first, such as Gameloft's open-world swashbuckler, BackStab.
