I've decided to do a little egg and hatchling diary for everyone to read. It's fake, of course, but it sounds to me like a very good idea.
It's pretty simple: Each day I record in my blog about the egg's I have and the hatchlings I have. Once I reach 5 hatchlings I put their names into a random list organiser and grab the top 5 of them to talk about (this may be lowered to three, depending on how hard this proves to be). I also record new eggs I have found.
Here's the fun part though and the reason I'm making this topic: You are permitted to give me eggs as well. You hand me an egg, you'll see it in the blog and maybe even read about what the hatchling got up to over the course of the day. You can also choose to give me a 'Mystery egg'. I'll decide what these hatch into but no-one will find out until it does hatch!
To keep MYSELF interested, I've added a little bit of randomisation to this. Here's how it works:
Before I post in my blog I roll a die. This is to see if I find an Egg that day. If it's a 5, I find one, but if any other number shows up, I don't.
After that, when I get more than 5 hatchlings the names go into a random list organiser. Using this I take the first 5 names that appear (it gives numerical orders with random results). These are the hatchlings I will talk about.
After that I make the entry. I'll discuss first if I found an egg (or even bothered looking, or if someone else gave me an egg) before discussing the eggs themselves. The eggs use the same die principles as egg hunting, except the numbers do the following:
1. The egg doesn't hatch, doesn't move, doesn't make a noise, nothing.
2. The egg makes either a tapping noise or moves a little.
3. The egg makes both a tapping noise and moves around, quite actively at that.
4. The egg hatches!
5. The egg hatches, but it's significantly stronger!
6. The egg hatches, but has some kind of birth defect, like permanent scarring, illness (unexplained coughing, not eating due to stomach problems, etc), temporary injury (like a broken leg or wing for example) or even certain elements like hyperactivity, memory loss, depression, etc. (This is NOT to mock anyone suffering with these or other real mental issues.)
If an egg doesn't hatch within 7 days, I will roll one last time and if it doesn't hatch on the 8th day, the egg cracks open but the hatchling is either dead (if I rolled a 6) or just simply not there (If I rolled a one or two).
Than I talk about the hatchlings and what they 'got up to' during the day. After that, well that entry is over!
So, if you want to give me an 'egg' just PM me or send me a Profile Message! The 'egg' can contain anything you like, from a Yoshi to a Shy Guy to a Chao to a Pokemon to even a dragon! You can also give me as many 'eggs' as you like! (But I will only find one 'egg' each day, whether I find it on my own or you give it to me.)
Try not to request 'eggs' to give me in this topic, ok? This was just to make you aware that you can give me 'eggs'.
