From my phone experience, laggy, crappy interface, terrible performance issues, constant;y crashes, headphone's never work, unless it was the headphone's that came with the phone, which were uncomfortable, and no matter how many times I replaced my phone (T-Mobile G2), I always had the technical problems.
Sounds like the issue was with the phone, not the Andoird OS.
I've had my tablet for half a year, and despite its low price the only issue I've had is occasional lags on start-ups, mostly because I use an almost full 16GB sd card on it and it takes a minute to mount/read it.
I never had any performance issues or crashes, tbh I like the fact that you can easily kill tasks or switch from one game/app to another.
I love Android, and I don't have lagging issues with the o/s so much as when I've run a lot of apps in a short time.. that happens with my Win 7 laptop, so I know that it isn't an issue with the o/s.. and when it happens, I just do the same thing I do in Windows.. I open the task manager and close the apps myself.
I am running the SlickMod 3.6 ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S2 from T-Mobile. I refuse to update to ICS until the next ROM comes out which will be based on stock ICS. But for now, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything important, so I'm sticking with SlickMod until the next version comes out.
Speaking of which, I should check the XDA forums..
Android is a good operating system for inexpensive phones since there are so many model of phones with Android, but some of the apps only work well on faster phones and tablets with a more recent version of Android like 4.0 or 4.1.
I like that it has a lot of free and paid apps, and the option to buy, and download apps from Amazon, 1mobile, Getjar and other market places as well as Google Play Market.
I've noticed that the people who say they dont like Android, usually fall into 1 of 2 different categories (excluding those who say they dont like it because it isn't iOS, and refuse to try it, or do so with their minds already made up) they are either not as tech-savvy as they thought, or they got ahold of either a bad phone or were running a version of Android that is pre-Gingerbread.
I used to dislike Android as well and seriously considered going with an iPhone. But when I saw my husband's Samsung Galaxy S 4G, I fell in love with both the phone and the o/s itself. So I decided to get the Galaxy S2 and I couldn't be happier.
Before I got to play with my husband's SGS, my first real exposure to Android was through the G1, which my husband bought off a friend to play around with. It was running Android 1.6 (Donut) and I never liked the phone and thought it was too bulky, and I didn't want to be saddled with a mini-brick like my HTC Hermes once was.
So the SGS was definitely a game changer for me and it is what ultimately sold me on both the Android o/s and the phone. I think that if people have an open mind about it and they know what they want in a phone and o/s then they are sure to find something that suits them.
I wanted a powerhouse, and I loved the Galaxy series, and so, that was what I wanted. My Galaxy Tab 7 Plus tablet is on its way here and I can't wait to play with it.
Not sure about the Android phones but on my tablet all I have to do is touch the task manager and drag the apps I want to kill off the screen, hard to do more simple than that
There are also tons of Apps on Google Play which are Task Managers which make it simple to kill tasks. But, I also find it kind of difficult to kill tasks in Android default task manager since I need to go to settings>Applications>Running tasks>and pick the tasks I want to kill.
I don't even have to do all that, I can get there in 3 button clicks.
All I have to do is long press on my "home" key and the menu to go to the task manager comes right up.
From there, I just press the big button and I am there.
I have the 7 plus on its way, well, its already here but I cant pick it up until Wednesday.
And yeah it is pretty simple to do but when I want the process automated, then I'll use "Advanced Task Killer Pro."
It is free (pro is paid though) and I can set the auto-kill frequency, level and security to my liking. So it will automatically handle background processes and I'll see a notification when the processes have been killed.
