I think Electric cars are great for people who use them to drive short distances to and from work or to buy groceries, but not so good for road trips since there aren't many gas stations which also can charge an electric car.
read a article in my newspaper a few months back about a guy who got one of these cars, but his outlet couldn't handle the car charging. make a long story short, he nearly spent as much money to mod his garage so he could charge his car as buying a cheap used car. though he may come out ahead in the long run.
Yes, he might come a head in the long run when the Arab countries and Big Oil Companies decides to not pump as much oil to raise the prices.
I also believe electric motors don't require as much maintenance as Gas motors since gas motors got tons of parts in them, and require many oil changes, liquid changes, and air filter changes through out the cars life.
There are some electric cars which can use a standard 110-120V Standard home power plug found in all old and new homes.
I read online you usually get a US Government and refunds/rebate of about $2,500 and $7,500 depending on the size of the vehicle's battery pack for buying a electric car, so you can use the refund/rebate to pay for the charging station and home wiring cost which probably also comes with a government rebate since you be using it to charge an electric car.
If your State also gives refunds and rebates for electric cars, you get even more of your money back for buying a electric car.
This is one of the reasons many people buy electric cars since they come with rebates/refunds and possibly paying less tax for buying electric cars which make buying a electric car more affordable.
It's a must have in this smoke-polluted world. Some gas stations in our country already have charging stations for electric cars, although they're not that popular since not everybody have electric cars.
