After 20 years of waiting, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past graphic novel is being reprinted this May by publisher Viz Media.

The full-color adaptation is returning in a special single-volume edition under Viz Media's Perfect Square imprint. The comic by Shotaro Ishinomori (Cyborg 009, Kamen Rider) was first serialized in Nintendo Power magazine and then later compiled into a graphic novel in 1993.

"We are honored and excited to make the publication available once again to North American readers from the Perfect Square library,” says Beth Kawasaki, Senior Editorial Director at Perfect Square. “Many older fans recall eagerly awaiting each new issue of Nintendo Power magazine back in the ‘90s for a new monthly chapter of A Link to the Past. While it followed the overall story arc of the original Super Entertainment System game, creator Ishinomori also added new plot twists and characters that made this a stand-alone favorite among multiple generations of fans."

A Link to the Past, the third game in the Zelda series, was originally released for Nintendo’s SNES in 1992. In the game, Link travels through the dungeons of Hyrule, fighting monsters and bosses, after receiving a distress call from Princess Zelda in his dreams. It is often considered one of the best games of all time.

Viz Media also publishes a series of manga adaptations of other The Legend of Zelda games, including Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time.
