According to researchers in the US, patients are seeking plastic sugery in record number as they are more concerned about theri appearance on Zoom video calls. According to a paper published in the journal Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine , people are more concerned about nose and wrinkles. A large amount of time spent on Zoom meetings has triggered a new phenomenon of 'Zoom Dysmorphia' that is forcing them to rush to their physicians for treatments.

I feel now is not the best time for plastic surgery because there is a chance of getting the Coronavirus at the Plastic surgeon's office, or traveling to the plastic surgeon office which can put other patients and staff at risk for getting Covid19.

It is sad that people are not satisfied with the way they look.

I think many of the people who are getting plastic surgery because of Zoom may of get plastic surgery even if Zoom did not exist because people still use mirrors to look at themselves, and there are other non-Zoom video chat programs like Skype, Google Hangouts, and camera apps like Instagram, Snapchat, Tik Tok, and Dating apps where you can upload photos of yourself.

That makes no sense. What is the real drive to people wanting to look better? It's not like zoom meetings are changing anything.

I feel some people may feel they will earn more money and be more popular on YouTube, Twitch, and other online video sites if they look better in their videos, and they may earn more money from tips and get treated better as a waiter/waitress, cashier, or taxi driver if they look better.

Some people may want to look better because they feel they can use good looks to more likely attract other men and women, and get more compliments on their good looks from people if they look better.

We do always knew that right like some people around us are very found of the way they look so that made them this way

I feel the Coronavirus outbreak maybe causing some people think more about plastic surgery because the Coronavirus is causing more people to stay at home, and they maybe spending a lot of time browsing sports, movie and music websites more often.

A lot of sports, movie, and music websites has a lot of pictures and videos of sports players, movie actors, and musicians.

Unfortunately, some people may feel they are not as attractive as sports players, actors, and musicians, so they may think about performing plastic surgery to change their appearance to look better.

They should be promoting plastic surgery for health problems, not for cosmetic reasons.

I read online posts that government mental health services in the U.S. is not very good. The poor mental health system in the US maybe causing people with a mental illness like depression to more likely to want to change their appearance to look and feel better by performing plastic surgery to look better on Zoom rather than getting help for their mental illness from a therapist.

That's more to worried about :disrelieved::disrelieved:

I agree it is more to be worried about.

Hopefully, countries like the US can improve their mental health services to better help people with mental illnesses before their mental illness gets worst where they may get addicted to plastic surgery or other activities like gambling.

Yeah, it's become problematic, those with mental health illness usually turn to these kinds of activities.
