It's probably hard because all the tiles are shared between games, but slopes weren't in SMB1. I don't think it Super Mario Maker uses the original collision detection, but I know that if they were adding them, then they would have to test every steepness level to so if it works in each game...

Well, Pokemon has always been a top down game. If you wanted to bring down the camera, you might as well make it not fixed. But doing that would also lose out on the optimizations that you're able to make with a fixed camera angle. Basically, if you get too low, it won't be like the other game...
