  • Well, if you ever consider making something from your life and you don't think that anything important happens, just evolve the story harder, haha!
Well I'm out of Safe Mode now and it all seems fine. Not sure how it went away, but I'm just hoping the thing hasn't entered a "sleep mode" or something.
-continued from previous comment- I then went to turn on Windows Security. Popped it on, set the virus protection back on too, and waited for it to disable like it usually did. It's been an hour since I activated it, and all other times, it was disabled within 10 seconds of enabling. I don't know what I did, but I don't have any symptoms any more!
Well, I went to do the Safe Mode stuff, and the scan still said my virus protection was on. I didn't go through with the scan, just in case. Turned the computer back on and did a bit of Googling. Then I noticed I wasn't being redirected. I Googled more stuff, and still no redirects. -continued in second profile comment-
Well, let's hope I can put a stop to it before any further damage occurs. I think what I've done is removed the ad stuff, but the stuff that disables my virus is still there, just disabling. With the odd Google redirect as well. At least I don't notice any performance issues, or anything unusual apart from aforementioned issues. I'll be off now, and do test tonight!
If worse comes to worst, I'll have to take the thing in. I've told the ol' father that I was aware there was some kind of adware on here and that I was trying a few things to get rid of it, but heck, I'm happy to have cleared up half of the issues. It always seems to be the virus software itself that is the first to screw up, too. Ugh.
I usually just refresh the page three times and I'm able to access, but yeah, this safe mode scan is done with some virus thingo that my friend said was incredibly good, and said it fixed his Dad's laptop when it was up the crapper. So here's to hoping it saves me as well!
From what I can tell, I've successfully removed half of it. The ads have stopped popping up, and IE's history isn't getting flooded with useless crap. The only problem left to fix is my Google Search redirects (it actually takes me to ad websites on Google Searches) and the fact my Windows Security won't turn on (I can enable it, but it turns off). Going to run a scan in Safe Mo...
