According to Kotaku Japan's PS Vita survey, 1 out of 10 Vita users had hardware issues and had to exchange or repair their hardware due to the failure. Not a big number, but still lower than MS's Xbox's RRoD.

That is a really high percentage for a product that was so hyped over. Was expecting the Vita to be a much more hardy product. Seems like all the newer gaming consoles and handhelds just have a greater tendency to fail. Have never had issue with a PS1. Even if it did become cranky at times, a little knock and blow would get it working again. On the PS3, we see the YLOD that just kills us since all game saves are lost and we're looking at a hefty repair bill. I just hope that game console producers would not just work on packing the next generation consoles with awesome features, but also make them hardy enough to withstand the usage by users of all those great features.

Hopefully the people who experience this hardware failure gets their issues resolved. I believe if its a manufacturer defect they should be covered with the warranty aspect of the issue. 10% is still is big amount of people with failure issues. I do think another generation of vitas to be released would help the issue

I won't get a Vita until they work out all the bugs first. It'll be just my luck when I buy one I'm in the 10% category. Thanks, but no thanks.

10% seems a lot for a recently released product. I hope they will fix all the bugs and errors and also they will lower their prices so I can get one for myself.

I had heard about this also.
And I had also heard about some other complaints that
kept me from buying this when it first came out. I think I better wait until they fine
tune this puppy.

Do you kick your computer when it doesn't run, because that is what new consoles effectively are now. As such it will trip out because computers are fairly delicate all things considered. That said I have a Vita and it is behaving quite lovely at this point. Hopefully it'll be a survivor like my 360.

Wow, this is a high percentage since this means 1 in 10 users experience failing Vitas. I wonder if it be higher overtime since I got a feeling the 10% might be hardcore gamers who game on their Vita 4-8+ hours a day, so they are more likely to experience problems because of over heating or other problems vs the typical user who just play games for 30 minutes a day.
