The USB 3.0 Promoter Group teased us with the prospect of a 10Gbps USB standard back in January, and it now has something to show for its work: the alliance has finalized its specification under the USB 3.1 name.

Wow, 10 Gbps for USB 3.1. I wonder if this mean someday we'll be just plugging in USB cables into a modem or router to a modern computer for high speed super fast internet without the need to buy those wired ethernet cables, or switching out network cards to a higher speed network card. This speed increase would be good for running a operating system like Windows on a USB 3.1 SSD or hard drive external drive when hard drives and SSD also reach 10 Gbps, so there would be no more need to install an OS, games, and software on an internal drive.

USB 3.1 10 Gbps maybe useful for USB 3.1 based monitors, and video cards

There are USB 3.0 monitors, but they are not really popular with most people.

Nice to know one day my PC set up will be simple and small instead of big and wirey.
