So,as we all know,Nintendo just recently announced the Nintendo 2DS,a newest member to the 3DS family.Thing is,they are some things I'm very curious about...

1.The Name

Why,JUST WHY is it a member of the 3DS family? The 3DS got it's name from it's major talent: The 3D.

But the 2DS is in 2D,hence the name.So if it doesn't play in the in 3D then why is it even part of the family if it doesn't even follow the 3DS's family name?

2.The Colors

So what other colors are their? The only ones I know about are the Black+Blue and White+Red ones (just like the Pokemon Black/White 2 colors lol). However,I'm pretty sure there is more colors. After all,the original 3DS has a crapton of them,so maybe they'll do the same with this and do exclusive color combos. But anyways,I just need to know if there is more colors.

3.The Shell

The 2DS shell looks kinda like the 3DS XL shell, but the Blue/Red parts (or back whatev you call it) kinda looks like the harder,shiny-er shell the original 3DS's have.

4.Why on October 12th?

It was confirmed to be released on October 12th,the same day as Pokemon X & Y.My guess is that since the 2DS is directed for smaller children, and Pokemon X & Y will be released on that day too,2DS and X & Y sales would blow up the fucking world. They would make thousands of dollars. But still,it's just a theory. So am I correct,or am I wrong and theres a specific reason?

One last thing, despite what i said on my first question,i AM still getting a 2DS.Yes it looks dumb, yes it looks small, yes it may look weird but IDGAF.It reminds me of the Gameboy:a classic nostalgic handheld.I remember playing Pokemon Blue on my GB as a kid,and I can see that transition to me playing Pokemon Y on my 2DS.As for everyone else, they seem to not like it.But hey,Nintendo needs the help don't they?

1.I guess I have to agree. The 3D IS what gives the 3DS family it's name, and the 2DS is part of it but doesn't have 3D.But remember, the 2DS's has every capability as the 3DS,except for the 3D effect of course.

2.There is only one other known color,Black+Red.Sadly, the best looking White+Red looking one will only be available in Europe along with the Black+Red,where you are (the US) the colors will be Black+Red,and Black+Blue on release. There is possibly more in the future.

3.To me it looks more like the 3DS XL case, but I'm not sure.

4.What you guessed there,it's most likely correct.

You're Welcome.

1. I wouldn't think too much about it. Indeed, maybe you could just assume the 2DS means it's a successor to the DS family, that happens to just coincidentally have the sam features as and play the same games as the 3DS.

2. Keep in mind that while it currently has only a few different colour schemes, the original 3DS never launched with more than about two either. You'll probably see more choices for 2DS colours in the monhs after its release, often to go along with special events and newly released games.

3. Not sure

4. To tie in with Pokemon X and Y, which are expected to be the highest selling games for the 3DS/2DS in general. Nintendo released it to provide both a cheaper alternative to the 3DS for cash strapped families and gamers and to make sure kids whose parents are scared of the 'dangers' caused by the 3D effect can still buy Pokemon X or Y and play it on a Nintendo system.

Now that I think a about it,the 3DS sales were low at times cause parents/guardians refused to buy them for kids because of the 3D.Now children 6- can play 3DS games on a smaller system that only plays in 2D.But that leads me to a question, will the sales of the 2DS count for the system itself,or the 3DS family?
