Welp, my 3DS has recently decided to think that every button on the system is being held down at the same time, minus the slider...so basically I'll be sitting on the menu and it'll scroll to the bottom left repeatedly and not allow me to press any buttons. When a game is booted via the touch screen...well I'm unable to use any buttons. I'm guessing it's not the buttons but rather a system glitch itself, I'm hoping for a 3ds update soon, this may fix my issue seeing how updates re-write certain data. What did I do to cause the issue? Nothing, I left it in it's protective case then booted it up to have that happen to me. So yep, since my system is out of commission..I won't be playing any 3DS games online for a while. Now I'm REALLY looking forward to the XL release.

yea i think you could wait for the next 3ds update or send it in to be fixed

phone support

Have you check to see if the buttons are clean and are not loose. Have you try rebooting with all the buttons press down. Now this last one is a joke, have you try reinstalling the 3DS OS... stupid tech support...

Have you tried looking in the manual for a problem like that? Because that's what I used when my 3ds stayed on a black screen when I tried to turn it off. If there is no such problem you might want to look back into your memory and see if there was anything or anyone that could've screwed up your 3ds.

You are most probably going to have to send it in to be fixed, unless you're a dab hand at reverse engineering the thing and trying to figure out what went wrong (warning: do not do this). Basically, send it in to Nintendo and pay the costs since that's the only practical way to fix this kind of major system issue.

Well it's not the button's because i got underneath em with paper and such, and the odds of every button having the same issue, not likely. It's most likely an OS issue. Meh, I'll probably send it in later on this year, but not any time soon since I know their repair price is going to be less than pleasing

my last resort before sending it in for repairs
-wait for the next system update..

Did you stop to think that maybe an update could make things worse (very unlikely...). If you have access to a 2nd 3DS use the system transfer tool to transfer your data to the 2nd 3DS and than do a system format and if that works transfer you data back to your original 3DS but than if you had a 2nd 3DS you'll probably be using that instead...

An update would only make it worse if it were modded to work a certain way, the only thing an update can do is rewrite what's already there and add fixes to what's already there. I don't have access to another 3ds, otherwise I wouldn't care that this one messed up at all.

You could reformat your 3DS memory. That would probably fix it. But of course you'd lose everything by doing that.

What exactly do you lose?
If save files are saved on the game cartidge's and Eshop games can be re-downloaded, I don't see what exactly are you losing except maybe 15 mins to download everything again.

I'd say wait for the next update, and if that doesn't work, reformat the system, you got nothing to lose.

Actually dsiware titles are save on the system so if you format the system you can kiss your save good bye. So yeah that's the only thing that will get lost in process of formating the 3DS. Besides I don't think your have to redownload the 3DSware and virtual console games because its on an sd card and your eshop account doesn't get deleted which means you'll be in the clear and won't have to redownload the games unless a system format wipes out the games on the sd card. My point is if he has dsiware then they go bye-bye with the save. Maybe TUK knows about what happens to 3DSware and virtual console games because I'm not trying it out myself because I have dsiware games on my 3DS…
