yes the activity is not that great for the amount of registered users we have, but with the recent merge with TG I hope to change that around and with the new boost of activity I hope that guest viewing the forum will join and contribute.
Between me and spirit we have gotten the GF link out to dozens of places, all we need is for the already active members to remain active so guests will join up.
I hope this answers your question, also we do have a forum for members to chat about Gamingforce and I will move it there now.

In regard to this, have you guys ever heard of Community Spark? I usually read their articles (sometimes they help me to brainstorm a little bit).

If you click on the link, you should see a site full of articles. In short, the site is run by a few people who talk about strategies for getting/keeping members as well as the pitfalls you can run into and what to do with moderators, etc.
I've found it to be good, if not to learn something new then to just get inspiration.

As an afterthought, in regard to activity, you guys may have trouble by just having a website to talk about gaming. Granted, once you get quite a few active members running about, you shouldn't have much of a problem; however, the issue is an attraction to your first budding, enthusiastic members.
Sure, you might get some random guy who just likes to join a small board and talk to everyone (like me, I suppose), but most members want to get something out of just coming to your site.
Do you guys have any plans for attracting members and getting them to be active other than just talking about games? If not, it's going to take a lot more effort just to get a few strong members to stick around and be "helpful." At least, that's what I've found out from my experience over the years.

you make a very good point, and at first of the start of the jcink Gamingforce this was the plan. But as I traveled from forum to forum I realized that there are tons of forums that are just about talking about video games and nothing more.
This is where I deiced to put a lot of effort into putting in the GF arcade (which is a lot more work then you think it is) and this helped at the time. But that wouldn't last long, and as I searched for other methods my 4th admin Zero, came to me and offered to make a MMORPG. though this is a slow project since his offline life is busy.
After a year and a half of activity struggle I made the offer to for TG to merge with us and as soon as tim gets his MMORPG game up I should be able to use that as bait to get more people to join! And since they need to make posts to get access to the MMORPG forum this should help the forum's activity.
If we can get a few more TG members here and be active I could bring out a few more features that GF has to offer.
Right now, that is the current plan in my head. I am also currently in setting up a GF wiki for the forum as well. Wikis seem to be very popular.

It's definitely obvious that you are trying hard. You have responded to more of my topics/posts than anyone else. That's a good thing for an administrator to do when a board is seeking more active members.
Your next step would probably be to find those "special" members (four or five of them at minimum) to really get your community going. Obviously, you wouldn't want to make them staff because that would ruin the "active member" vision that would be forming.
All I can really do for you is wish you luck. I've had minimal success with forums (quite some time ago). Of course, I have been very distant with my online life recently.

About getting more members, I'm still doing that right now.
So far we have members that came from search engines, others from our affiliate sites.
As I increase the number of backlinks pointing to this site, the people on search engines will find our site a lot easier.
Some people have already begun finding our site, thanks to a lot of content building and thread making, by entering search keywords (thanks to my site tracker). So that means we're making some progress.
