Some users feel that their use of Facebook is compulsive. Over one billion people signed into Facebook on August 24th 2015. One in seven people on earth now use the social network. Facebook is ubiquitous in our lives and we often feel the need to update our status during any social occasion.

On the back of Facebook's rise in second quarterly revenue and the fact 1.49 billion people use Facebook, the survey shows some revealing trends in how we actually use Facebook in our lives.

The survey was carried out by Stop Procrastinating -- a UK based productivity site.

It asked 2000 people who use Facebook regularly and found that a majority are worried that their use of Facebook is compulsive.

I think one reason that many people use Facebook because many of the other social networks like Twitter, and Google Plus are too limited where they don't have games or fan pages, and don't have a good design which is too basic, or difficult to use.

Plus, most people use Facebook, so people don't switch social networks because many of their friends, and family are not on other social networks.

It is also harder to get traffic to a newly open website, forum, or blog without using Facebook to promote your site because so many people are on Facebook, and it can take a long time like months to be on the front page of Google, Yahoo, and other search engines when people search for topics which are related to your site.

I'm more addicted to forums than FB which I feel is a good thing.

I mostly use Forums as well.

I mainly use Facebook to see my family and friends photos and videos which they post to Facebook because they don't post pictures and videos to a forum, or a blog because they are not forumers, and bloggers.

Is that so? I use it and I don't like it's interface :/
I guess you don't get addicted to social media, when you are addicted to forums :D

I think forums were one of the first social networks, but they are more about talking about many topics instead of about yourself like Facebook.

I think Forums start being less popular when Myspace was opened since Myspace was one of the most popular websites until Facebook was used more by College students, and people who graduated from College. Facebook started as a College themed social network instead of a general social network like Myspace, and Twitter.

I think Myspace is now a Music and Entertainment social network instead of a general social network like Facebook and Twitter.

I agree it is the only way to stay up for Myspace to become a music and entertainment site because there are too many General Discussions themed social networks. Plus, Myspace have free music which bands and singers posts on its site to keep visitors coming back to listen to free music which does not have unwanted advertising like the Radio, and Spotify, Rdio, and other free music listening sites.

The owner of Myspace is Justin Timberlake who is a singer. I bet, he probably use Myspace to promote his music more by making his music play more on Myspace Radio and music player, and make his profile on Myspace easier to find. He probably makes millions more from his online music sales, and TV appearances because he uses Myspace to promote his songs to new fans.
