I'm not against social networks or forums, but I've always thought they should be handled by independent groups and individuals rather than the companies responsible for the topic they're about like Nintendo.
It also makes me fear that the next generation of Nintendo gamers will stick to Nintendo's own social networking tools rather than using third party gaming forums and networks like this one, or Nintendo Life, or maybe even IGN or Gamespot/GameFAQs. That's kind of unfair competition for people running these sites, and it's hurting an already battered market (the forum one in general thanks to sites like Facebook and Twitter).
So yes, does anyone else not like the concept in general, and kind of worry what it could end up doing to Nintendo fan sites and forums? Heck, anyone else worried that Microsoft or Sony could do the same thing and hurt general gaming sites in just as significant a manner?
What do you think?
