Either the 3DS or Wii U versions?

Cause I have to say,,, I kind of am. Maybe it's because I had really high expectations, but nothing in these games wows me as much as Brawl did. Perhaps its the characters (Sonic's reveal was probably the biggest thing in history for Smash Bros hype), perhaps its the game style (it seems to be playing it very safe compared to Melee and Brawl)... but it just feels less interesting,

Anyone agree?

It doesn't seem safe to me. It prevents edge camping, crazy good recoveries (up specials) mean in competitive play w/o online lag you can punish characters off the stage easier if anything. Sure Charizard's flamethrower (standard special) can prevent certain characters *cough* Little Mac *cough* from grabbing the edge or at least making things really hard on him, but other than that if you are on the stage you are more free to do as you please. I liked Brawl especially for the newcomers and adventure mode, but with customs and more newcomers I feel like I can deal with it more. Plus the major game balance, as hard as it seems to figure out to some people, each move has an advantage but it's all situational and who does their moves the fastest and/or the most effectively will most likely win. The game is fairer in that regard, much fairer than Brawl. Heck I might like Smash 3DS more than the rest because it's the game I got the most into in the series. It all depends on your tastes. If you might want a slower or easier paced game, play as a heavier character. If you want to be a little more difficult on others then use a faster character.

The one part I am disappointed at though is the online lag, but that's bound to happen because it requires more inputs and accuracy than most other games that can deal with it because you don't seem to be going very fast or are moving at a specific predictable pace.

The character announcements generated 0 hype in me, but the core game looks intact and amazing so I'm excited for it.

I've really enjoyed the Wii U version (It's so much more comfy for me to play then the 3DS one) but then, I'm not a hardcore player either. So long as Fox and Falco are in game and there's Star Fox themed levels I'm good. I'm not real big on characters with off the wall play styles, tend to like straight up brawlers better, so the newer characters never do much for me. Really, everything with the game has been great for me, had a lot of fun with it so far.

Nah, it met my expectations to the mark. It's going to be a game I play and remember for many years to come. It's just a bit different since I can't just have my friends come over and spend days with me playing it like in the past when I was a kid.

I'm satisfied with both versions of Smash Bros. even though I only have the 3DS copy. I don't get to play the Wii U version often but theres no denying its just as great as the portable version.

It met and exceeded all expectations for me. Both versions are great whether on-the-go or playing at home.

Daddy Sakurai has delivered one thousand fold, too bad this might be his last Smash Bros game.

I personally agree it is a bit of a letdown, but who knows. Nintendo released MK8 DLC, so maybe the same will happen with SSB4. I'm kind of disappointed there's no title, like Melee, or Brawl. I think that's a bit odd. Also, I dislike most of the random characters in the game, but I enjoyed the shock that Duck Hunt was a playable character. I wish that they're was a way to unlock all the stages in one game, instead of constantly switching between the two to play certain levels, and the lack of Pokemon Trainer or a Johto Trainer is disturbing (who cares if Charizard is it's own character! Not me! Make a Johto Trainer with Chikorita, Quilava, and Fera or something).

Seems like a letdown, but I'm probably just sad because I can't do those 'play with your friends after school' like when I was younger. Nobody really enjoys playing with me anymore.
