Apple is said to be including USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports on the new MacBook Pro, and ditching traditional USB ports and the company's MagSafe charging connector. That might surprise potential MacBook Pro owners, but it's the same strategy that Apple used in its 12-inch MacBook. Many will be hoping that Apple manages to squeeze more than one USB Type-C port inside the new MacBook Pro, though, and that it leaves the headphone jack alone for now.

Having no regular USB ports is frustrating for many users. A lot of users would need to carry around a a USB-C to regular USB converter cable or hub with regular USB ports.

It's a strange move. I know the ports they are including will be the future of USB but it seems very sudden to go over to using them for 100% of the ports already when they aren't the standard or what consumers have.

I agree it is a strange move since most consumers still use regular USB for charging their iPhone and iPad, or transferring data from their USB hard drive to their PC.

Hopefully, Apple includes a free USB-C to Full-size USB converter cable, so users don't need to buy another cable to use their regular USB devices like USB flash drives.

I don't see how ditching usb ports can help anyone.

Nuts, they always thing about what they want and not want the people of the word wants. that's nuts

Yeah, I'm not buying one then.

Cause it's not just stuff like a mouse that you use the USB for. It's also used for video game capture cards and recording devices, microphones, external hard drives and other useful accessories that appeal to a specialist audience. So if this is true, they've basically said anyone making Let's Plays or YouTube videos, anyone recording game footage or anyone who's security conscious may as well not buy a Macbook...
