Well didn't see this coming, so soon. Apparently the man who held three women hostage for years was found dead in his cell by suicide.

Given what he did, and the fact that there was a 30 minute time frame in between guards, it may be possible that it wasn't by his own hand. It may of been his own choice, but given what he did, I'm sure there were plenty of angry people there that wouldn't mind him being gone.

I feel he did kill himself since I saw the news where he said he suffers from sex addiction, so he probably was very depressed by not being able to have sex, and losing his freedom.

According to the article from the link which DS posted. The article posted he was in protective custody, and check on every 30 minutes by Prison staff. He also was recently taken off suicide watch. It sounds like he was in an empty cell by himself, and I think it is very unlikely the prison staff will hang him since they'll get fired from their jobs, and get arrested.

You know, I think I know exactly how this happened.. a spontaneous, yet eerily specific computer glitch caused Castro's cell door to be unlocked at the same time a guard is walking an inmate, who just so happens to have a freshly sharpened toothbrush, and plans to offer Castro an offer he can't refuse, past his cell when suddenly a strong wind blows causing the guard's hat to blow off his head and into another cell block, causing the guard to run and go get it. Leaving the inmate he was walking with all by himself, where said inmate then offered Castro a choice of an open casket or a closed casket.

Of course, once the guard returned with his hat, Castro was already dead.

Coincidences are funny.

I have a gut feeling this is what happened.

That is very likely to have happened, I agree. However, I am not convinced it was a computerised door..... although I am not familiar with the majority of prisons....

Having computerised doors in prisons is the dumbest thing ever..... scenario.....

....switch computer on..... hack, hack, hack...... jail break!!!!!!!!! RUN!!!!!!!

end of scenario.

This is what I've been saying with Cars. PCs should not be apart of everything. Good old fashion lock and key does somethings better.

I dont have any jail experience either, but you'd be surprised at how many jail security systems have gone digital.

The biggest reasons being that:

Guards require pay.

Guards require healthcare.

Guards (some of them) can/will fuck inmates.

Guards lose keys.

So for those reasons, a computer is considered to be more reliable.. but after these, I am not so sure..

True, but in doing so we'd inadvertently bankrupt the planet. If the USA builds such a prison, then so will the U.K., Canada, China, Japan, although it wouldn't be people building the Japanese space prison, it would be cyborgs building and then residing in there since by then Japan will have managed to replace their entire population with cyborgs, and since there would be no people, it would be the cyborgs that are commiting the crimes.

Going to space is very expensive and so, just about everyone who built a jail up there would be broke before they could send their first inmate.. except for Japan, since they would have also found a way to replace currency, with cyborgs.. :P

Build prisons in space, problem solved. No jail break problems. haha. if aliens find them then they get stuck with our scum haha.
Oh yes, build a large prison in space, god help us all if the inmates take it over and crash it into earth.
