Bad day for Nintendo

The video-game giant warned on Friday of a net loss of ¥25 billion (US$240 million) for the year, instead of the ¥55 billion net profit it had forecast last April.

It drastically cut estimates of sales of its Wii U game console, launched in 2012, from 9 million units to 2.8 million for the year to the end of March 2014.

Nintendo also lowered its sales projections for the 3DS console from 18 million units to 13.5 million for the same period.



That Wii U number really puts things into perspective. They sold less than a 3rd of what they thought they would sell... how can they be that out of touch? Scaling back on 3DS projections is also disappointing, but it's not on the same level as the Wii U. This leaves us all with one question:

What can I do to help Nintendo?​

Someone needs to yell at them.

First off, calling it the Wii U was a horrible decision.

They need to get their online accounts straitened out. Sony and Microsoft's systems have to problem in that department as in games are locked to account, not a system.

For the love of god, release GB/GBA games on the 3DS. It's an easy way to get money!

I love Nintendo, but they need to change some things.

I'm actually considering of purchasing a Wii U after I obtain my PlayStation 4 and if any more limited edition 3DS XL are released I will try to snag one before they're gone. It is a very bad start to the new year, hopefully they do consider in releasing Gameboy Advanced and GameCube games.
