Beloved pet?

Oh I am SOOO sorry! :( Our dog passed away in 2012 & it took me a few years to overcome it. She was mommy’s girl & had helped me through a lot of tough situations. We thought of getting a new dog, but I was never ready. What helped is fostering. Some we did for just a day, some was for a few months.
Fast forward 10 years with our current dog who helped our hearts heal, I STILL say Good Night to my other dog. Her urn is above my bed. I say Good Night to my furbabies every night & still continue that tradition even after they have passed. Keeping with traditions helped me.
By the way, I was so devastated & cried so much, I had salt burns around my eyes for months!

We had to have her put to sleep because she had a tumor in her nose. We didn't want to loose her but we didn't want her to suffer just to make ourselves happy. We've decided to not get a dog for a while. We plan on going on a vacation or two before we get another dog. That'll give us time to heal.

@ZandraJoi I do the exact same thing. My husband and I both will say good night to the dog even though she's no longer with us.

I'm sorry for your loss. We've lost and had to give away multiple animals (cats and dogs) for various reasons. As for dealing with it? I give extra love to the 2 kittens we now have....
