Analog TV is passing away, but don’t check its vital signs yet. Thanks to the FCC, cable providers will still be forced to provide analog signals to consumers until at least 2012.

This means cable companies will either have to give their customers digital to analog converter boxes or convert their broadcast signals to analog SD.

Whatever your local cable provider decides, expect the changes to go into effect in 2009 when all standard channels switch to digital.
