I've always had a dog, however, I currently have my first cat right now. Like DS said, there are pros and cons to both sides of the issue. It just depends on which ones you'd rather deal with.

Oh wow! I've always have this mindset that cats are cool too. Maybe I need to have a therapy.
I had both growing up. We always had barn cats. I grew up on acreage with farms all around. Many were strays that just stayed. We also had a dog. Cats are great for sitting on your lap while reading or watching TV. Dogs are great for taking a walk with.

I can't agree less that cats are good for the home. I feel scared visiting some home that got dogs in it.

Some can be aggressive or hide where you never get to see them. Dogs might be aggressive more but cats have claws and can break things.

With the cat, I don't have to take the cat outside when it needs to go to the bathroom because the cat can just use the litter box whenever it needs to. But some people may not like having to clean out a litter box regularly.
Well, my cat is actually a very loving cat. He's always wanting my attention or wanting attention from my husband. I think we lucked out when it came to finding a nice cat.
