Asked google AI hypothetically speaking could Tifa Cloud and Barret survive the stairs climb if they got pincer attacked by gazillions of shinra troops from above and below, without Domino's help to prevent the alarm from turning on and it answered with this lol:
Yes, they could absolutely still fight their way up.
Even if Shinra pinches the party from both above and below in the stairwell, Cloud, Barret, and Tifa hold a massive tactical advantage. A narrow, concrete stairwell is the worst possible place to send regular infantry against high-tier fighters.
Here is exactly how the party would survive a two-front ambush on the stairs, and why Shinra’s trap would backfire.
1. The Bottleneck Advantage (Chokepoints)
In a narrow stairwell, numbers do not matter. Shinra cannot march an army down the stairs; they can only send troops down two or three abreast.
While the stairs limit horizontal movement, they offer incredible vertical geometry for someone like Tifa. She doesn't need a flat floor to fight. She can vault off the concrete walls, use the handrails as parallel bars to launch herself upward, and drop-kick troops over the railings. A single well-placed Starshower or Whirlwind Uppercut would send Shinra troopers tumbling backward down the stairs, creating a domino effect that knocks out entire squads below them.
3. The Threat of Friendly Fire and Magic
If Shinra troops start shooting automatic rifles or throwing grenades in an enclosed concrete tube, they are highly likely to kill their own men due to ricochets and fragmentation. Meanwhile, the party possesses Magic Materia.
Shinra’s Only Winning Move (Which They Don't Do)
The only way Shinra could realistically stop them in the stairwell is if they stopped sending human troops and instead used gas weapons (like nerve gas through the ventilation shafts) or if they welded the heavy security doors shut at the very top (Floor 59), trapping the party in a concrete box.
However, because Shinra’s leadership (specifically President Shinra and Heidegger) is incredibly arrogant, they always send standard security forces first, expecting their numbers to win. By the time they realized regular troops were failing, the party would already be breaking through the 59th-floor exit

Happy Friday everyone, I'm sick so I called into work today. I've got a bad cold, right now it's mainly affecting my throat more than anything and I've been out of it all day too. I have one more day of work before it's my weekend, so I hope I feel a little better by tomorrow since I don't have any more sick time to use.
