It's luck of the internet service to me, also based on how much use it gets anyways it's kinda a requirement now just to keep up. (But I didn't start when I was 4 just a comment for comparison)

When I was young, our computers were these machines we had to "boot up".

Not sure about the kicking them part but yeah Windows 98 takes forever to turn on, luckily with an SSD for my laptop it's like less than 30 seconds to turn on.

They called it "boot up". You didn't actually have to kick it This was in the 80's. This was when the only experience we had using computers was at school during a computer class.
