Where you went to buy a game and it was out of stock?
This happened to me twice, with Diablo III and now, OOT.
For Diablo III, I bought it the day after, and for OOT, I got Super Mario Land 3D instead (This happened today T_T).
So, share your experience in this topic.

I'm assuming you mean OoT3D, cuz most N64 games are out of stock these days. But yes, Cave Story 3D was nowhere to be found the first couple places I looked, but I found it eventually.

Ofc I bought OOT:3D, tho there is a store near my house that sells games for old consoles, including gameboy, N64, NES, all that crap.
Oh, and what you said is true, Cave Story 3D+Tales of the Abyss is no where to be found, I don't know why stores aren't stocking them.

Tales of the Abyss was not in any store I looked in, though the GameStop guy seemed surprised that there wasn't one in stock...however, they all had it in their online stores, which is how I ended up getting it.

They were limited supply which means they only made a certain amount of copies.

I first purchased a Cosmo Black 3DS but I had to exchange that after two days because of a broken depth slider but they didn't have any Cosmo Black models in-stock, so I ended up choosing Midnight Purple instead. I actually like this color a lot better so I'm almost glad they didn't have the same original color.

If they don't have a certain game in-stock at my local Gamestop, I ask them to check the second location because oddly enough, there are two different stores in the mall. If they both don't have it, I normally just choose a different game. I am joining the 3DS party late, so to speak, so there is already a list of games I want to eventually pick up. I try to never go to Gamestop without a backup plan.

I had this when buying a Wii console, but have absolutely never had it when buying an individual game.

LUCKY!!
So wait, there is a limited amount of Tales of the Abyss copies?
Does this mean once they're all bought, that's it? I don't get it.

PS: I just got Super Mario Land 3D, and I'm enjoying it so much

Wishlist: Kingdom Hearts 3D
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D

This has actually never happened to me. I mean I hardly ever go into a game store knowing what I'm going to buy anyway. So I just get the first thing that looks good. It avoids this problem.

Well, so you just buy a game by the box art? That's risky, I only buy games with a 70+ Metacritic score, that I researched for a LOOOOONG time and tried to play with a friend's 3DS before buying it.

Meanwhile, you go to GameStop and pick the first thing that looks good.

In all honesty, I'm not even sure what a "metacritic" score is but I also do a fair bit of research myself. I normally read a few reviews or watch the first few episodes of a walkthrough on YouTube, which normally gives me the best idea of if I'll like the game or not. I very rarely purchase a game without doing the research first, unless I find it for extremely cheap in a bargain bin where I normally get the idea of "I might as well buy it for my collection".

Metacritic is a website that gives 'point' reviews for games, movies and other things. I don't look at it myself, but I'll take a look at the gameplay and decide if I want it or not.

Reviews,in my opnion, shouldn't determine weither you should buy it or not because that's THAT person's opnion, not yours. You might LOVE a game IGN doesn't. It's happened to me before. I just buy a game on if it looks fun or not. Platformers are a must for me,since I'm a huge platformer guy.

Anyways,in-topic,yes this has happened to me. When I wanted to get a Vita by trading in the games they had for a deal (trade in some number of games and get it for free) the store I was going to had none of them, and the other store was closed. And it was Monday the next day,so I had to wait even later.
It wasn't fun.

awwww man i remember once i was looking for RE4 for the gamecube... everywhere was sold out for like a month

Metacritic is a site that collects all reviews for a game, and averages up the score.
Also, I do the same, If I find a 40$ 3DS game for 5$ (Even tho that would never happen), I'd buy it, just for the box art to be in my collection ;D

Well, I just go to metacritic, and look at the average score, if a game has less than 50~, then it must have something wrong with it.
For example: Heroes of ruin got a shameful 69%, with almost no positive reviews, so as much as I wanted to get it, and I still want it, I decided to skip it, until I find it on Ebay for cheap, maybe in a few years, tho I REALLY want it, I wont get it, because I don't think it's worth the 40E from what I've seen.
Youtube for gameplay videos, Metacritic for a first glimpse, and I decide if I get the game or not.

I was looking for KH3D:DDD at Gamestop in a mall, but I saw a kid with the last copy.
KH:DDD you say?
I would kick the kid aside, steal the copy and run like a devil if I were you.
