Back when high scores mattered, did you always aim for the high score or go back now and try for them?

I don't figure high scores to really be an accomplishment. I mostly like them if they are added to the board for completing a game, but if that's the whole point of the game like Wario Land, Luigi's Mansion, or Pikmin, I hate to say it, but the lack of closure leaves me empty. It works way better for those 3D Classics on the 3DS like Kid Icarus, Kirby's Adventure, and Twinbee.

Pac-Man or Tetris, sure because those games are meant to be short and sweet, but if someone else also played it, I'm not going to compete. I would rather just stick to personal bests.

yeah, that is the fun factor for me. Keeps me engaged and motivated to just get the high score

I don't mind trying to get high scores in some games like the Genesis Sonic games. If you get 50,000 points you get an extra life in Sonic 2 and so I would always try to get a good time bonus or have at least 50 rings by the end of a zone. Likewise in Sonic 3 and Knuckles I always get perfects in the special stages so I can get extra lives since you're always guaranteed 50,000 points with a perfect . I usually don't need too many to get through the games but it's always nice to have some extra lives lol.

Oh absolutely! Have you seen all the high score topics here and on Nintendo 3ds Central? I even calculate the total high scores for all the games on Nintendo 3DS Central!

View this topic and be amazed on what I like to do in my spare time: High Score Totals
(We're nearing one trillion total points, so start getting those high scores!)

And if you want to, you can submit your own records there in Nintendo 3DS Central's very own Record Hall: The Record Hall

You can also just submit them here and I'll add the to Nintendo 3DS Central's leaderboards!
Shortcut: Game Records

Can you beat any of my records?
