Do you buy more than one handheld?
No, I have never bothered with more than one version of a handheld console to be honest. What's the point behind that? Why would someone want to buy the same console? But some people tend to do that. Hey, I have no issues with that. I am happy with my 3DS and Vita for the time being.
I've had a tendency of doing that, due to wanting what's newer, bigger, and better. I would want the latest DS handheld, and once I fork over my money to get one, I'd learn that it's the same console I've already owned since 2006.
I got the first DS when it was first introduced, then I got the DS Lite. After some time, the DS Lite became old news and I got the DSi. At this point, I had decided that I was done buying Nintendo's handhelds, because they're all the same. I can get by just fine with the three DS's that I own that all still work... right? Then comes the 3DS, the latest and greatest in the DS series, running an entirely different engine with a whole new library of 3DS games. I was able to stand tall until rumors of a new Super Smash Bros. game began to stir, and I just had to have it. I finally caved into getting a 3DS last winter, and it's already getting faulty at times. Nintendo has caused me to pay over $1,000 for their handheld systems for two different game libraries. Oh well, at least the 3DS is backwards-compatible. That's one thing Nintendo has going for them that Sony doesn't.
I felt like the Nintendo 3DS was enough to be honest.
Dont see how anyone could want anything more to be honest.
Great console for on the go.
I like to buy handhelds and I am collecting retro handhelds so I have more than one. I have 2 Game Boy Advance variants with the rare brighter screen Advance SP AGS-101 and I would like to buy some other handhelds too. I'm planning on buying the New 3DS XL and also the Playstation Vita... The reason is I want to play the best games on both platforms. Handhelds are also a lot cheaper than the full gaming consoles, so they are easier to collect for.
I only buy one. Most of the time, the upgrades aren't necessary. Only the New 3DS forces the consumer's hand, by having games that ONLY run on the new system, since it's an actual hardware upgrade. But there's not much exclusive to N3DS yet, right? Xenoblade and The Binding of Isaac, isn't that about it? The Binding of Isaac is so good that it's almost worth it... if only I didn't already have it on Vita.
I only buy one because I don't see the point of getting another console if I still have my old one and they come out with new ones. We have seen plenty of cases where they upgrade the console so it isn't exactly unexpected. You either get the console while it's new, but find that the newer versions that come out later are better or wait until it's older and cheaper with the same results. The worst case would be to get the latest version of the console that ends up being the last version they ever do and the console becomes almost obsolete and no new games are coming out for that console anymore.
It's better to take care of the one good console I have until it breaks before even thinking of getting a new one. Make the most of my money. Besides, I don't play as much as I used to so I don't see the benefits of getting a new console just because the newest version came out.
I stick with the same one until the day it becomes unplayable! I've had this white Nintendo DS, and a dark blue DS Lite since the mid-2000's. Even when the DS Lite was having control issues, I just took it in to get repaired / refurbished! I'm not one to throw away money crazily, and if I can use it to play a game I want to play, I'm not going to buy a new handheld!
I mean, currently, I see no need to get a 3DS, or a DS XL - as I'm sure there haven't been any exclusive games for them that I've wanted to play. Not to mention the fact that you can literally play Mario Kart and Super Mario Bros multiplayer with your friends endlessly. God knows why, but it never gets old. Craziness.
But, I get it. Nintendo wants to pull in money, so they're making "useless" consoles. They just need to continue making amazing games, and their sales will go up like CRAZY.
