The main difference between the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch Lite is that one console can be used on the dock to be able to play with a controller and see your game on the TV and also as a handheld and the other is just a handheld console. Depending on how you like to play your Nintendo Switch depends on which console you choose to go for.
Obviously, another difference between the two is that games such as Nintendo Switch Sports, Just Dance, and even Let's Sing would not be playable on the Nintendo Switch Lite.
When it comes to the Nintendo Switch do you prefer the Nintendo Switch with the dock or the Nintendo Switch Lite which is just the handheld?
Without the ability to stream my Switch games with no dock, I would've wanted the original or OLED any day. However, if I were to get an OLED I would hate to see that screen be worn from overuse. Not that it would, but over time it can be an issue. Maybe if I could play games on separate consoles and keep the save like with the Pokemon titles, there is a good niche for traveling without taking everything with you if it gets lost.
I have both, and certain games feel better on one than the other.
The 2D style games are great on the Switch Lite, but the 3D games aren't comfortable to play on it and vice versa for the regular Switch. The lack of a real D-Pad is kind of annoying with 2D games too, and using a control stick feels wrong. The Switch Lite is also more portable than the regular Switch, is lighter, and feels less fragile. You can transfer saves between the two very easily.
Some games look pretty bad blown up on a TV, it’s like zoomed in and not optimized for a big screen. The Switch Lite’s smaller screen also looks better imo than the regular Switch due to being the same resolution, but a smaller screen, so the portable mode looks better.
Nintendo is the kind of the better one at the handheld market. Sony tried their hand at the handheld market and Microsoft hasn't even dipped their toes in the pool. However, I have the Switch and not the Switch Lite. I like being able to take it with me on the go but I like playing it at home as well.
