Yes, I think buying a faster laptop to use as a desktop replacement computer is not as worth it thesedays because there are good desktops which cost $299 or less which have 4GB of RAM, 3.0GHz CPU, 500GB-1TB hard drive, DVD Burner, a decent video card, and lots of USB ports. Plus, you can install a better video card in the future to play more intensive PC games like Call of Duty if you wish. You are also not stuck with the slower video card like laptops where video cards are not usually replaceable. Building a desktop PC is not too hard thesedays if you want to spend less on a PC, but have better parts while spending less money.

There are also cheap laptops which cost $280 or less which has a 2GHz CPU, 3-4GB RAM, 500GB-1TB hard drive, DVD burner, and HD graphics which is good enough for most laptop related tasks like school, office work, watching video and browsing the web.

It would most likely be cheaper to buy both a cheap desktop, and cheap laptop instead of buying a more expensive laptop like a Macbook Pro or Gaming Laptop in the $1000-2000 price range to use as both a laptop, and to replace a faster desktop.

problem with laptops anything cheap could be put into it. I bought a really nice laptop but the keyboard is not the best.
