Let's look at some of the main Mario games since Super Mario Bros, in 1985:

In the 80s:
  1. Super Mario Bros. - 1985
  2. Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels - 1986
  3. Famicom Grand Prix: F-1 Race - 1987
  4. Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally - 1988
  5. Super Mario Bros. 2 - 1988

There were various spin-offs, ports and remakes as well, and some Game & Watch titles...

Now on to the 90s:

There have been more Mario games in the last 4 years than the entire of the 1990s.

But is that too much? Or do we need MOAR MARIO!?

No, I think they are attempting to expand the mario world which is ok by me.

I was only including Main games.. not counting things like remakes like "Vs Super Mario Bros" or "Kaekaketietitta Mario Bros" or whatever it's called... and I didn't count the Wario or DK games for obvious reasons, they don't have Mario in it.... except for DKC2 but that's not the same.
 
yeah, fine with me, but i'd love a real Mario game right now, like full 3D enviroment etc.
