I normally just use the word cell phone when talking about smartphone, smartphone apps, and other things related to smartphones like cases.

I use the word cell phone because I'm more used to saying cell phone than smartphone.

Plus, I also find it kind of weird to use the word smartphone when talking to friends, family, and strangers, so I usually just say cell phone instead of smartphone like "can you pass me my cell phone?", and "I like the look of your cell phone case."

yes since there is a difference and many people still do use flip phones.

I just say phone or mobile. I do say smartphones but that which I say when I need to make a point. Smartphones are something that you talked about regarding apps and internet. Mobiles are for all different phases of phones but not all phones have a app option

Well, of course I do use that word.
Others usually refer to phones in general as just 'phones' but not every phone can access internet here.
