Example of Gaming Mode from Eset/NOD32

Yes, my Antivirus which is AVG 2012 has a Game mode which automatically pauses updates, and scheduled scans from running when I play a game in Full-screen mode. It also prevents updates and scheduled scans from poping up when you are watching a movie, or doing a power point presentation in Full Screen mode.

Game Mode
AVG’s Game Mode provides non-stop protection during non-stop action in multi-player games like Call of Duty without annoying lags and freezes caused by scheduled updates and scans. AVG safeguards your digital profile against teams of hackers who are crawling the web, specifically looking to steal your game rewards and sell them for real money.

I think Avast, Vipre, Eset, Norton, Kaspersky and other popular antivirus also has a gaming mode which does the same thing.

Yup almost every Anti Virus Suites nowadays have customizeable profiles which you can set for your gaming session.
