Namco Bandai Games announced on Friday that its Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z game is slated to launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita (digital only) in the Americas on January 28.

In the "team melee action" game, up to four players can play cooperatively, or eight players can engage in a massive battle royale. The game will feature four different battle types, and a full-featured solo play. The game has online multiplayer support, and players can work together on attacks such as "Synchro Rush" or boosting each other's health via "Revive Soul."

Players can also form "dream teams" such as the "ultimate Son Goku team" above or a team of all forms of Frieza. Players can take on colossal bosses in 360° all-range battles. The game has 60 exclusive missions and over 70 different playable fighter characters, including the God of Destruction Birus and his companion Uis from this year's Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods film.

The game will debut in Japan on January 23, 2014.

I have no plans for this game, but the trailers do look good.

This really does not look all that good to me.

I really want them to do a trully up to date Tenkaichi game complete with all the characters featured in Tenkaichi 3 (which was the biggest DBZ game roster ever).

I Also want the Dragon Universe mode from Tenkaichi 2 to return and be improved as well.

It just seems that lately they have been taking a step back as far as over all content and replayability goes with the latest few Dragon ball Z games.

Like how now they are saying now since people did not like the Dragon Ball GT series that they are not going to be including any characters from the series in the game.

I have seen plenty people who do not like over all series of GT but still like some of the characters and transformations such as SSJ4 Goku,Baby Vegeta, And Super 17 and its a shame that they may not get to appear in future DBZ games because developers don't realize that those characters still have fans who want to play as them in a DBZ game.

I always feel to make the best DBZ game they first need to work with all the characters, add in everyone they can shaping them and perfecting them. Then slowly releasing game content with DLC or expansions. Making DBZ game after DBZ game is pointless, they need to go the way of MMO and continue to update the same game.

And lets be honest, who would watch the anime again when the video games have told the story to death? I still wonder why there isn't some kind of original DBZ game storyline.
