Why didn't Fire Emblem take this approach? Either way looks pretty creative. Funny they are going for realism and it happens to feature turn-based combat but that's just how this genre works.

Fire Emblem using Xcom's like Combat could be good. Plus Fire Emblem has nice characters and waifu PLOTs lol the feature Xcom lacks. This game though it looks like it's combining the two albeit with much lower number of characters compared to Fire Emblem.

Didn't know much about Fire Emblem's characters but I do know there are too many. Summarized here:

Read your character can PLOT Cleopatra, changing history lol and Julius Caesar is dead early, and thus Caesar fails to PLOT Cleopatra lol.
