This thread is all about the games that were on the main consoles, not the handhelds. I didn't really get into Zelda until around the Wii U era when they had the games on the eShop so I can't form an opinion one way or the other.

The Legend of Zelda (NES)
The Adventure of Link (NES)
A Link to the Past (SNES)
Ocarina of Time (N64)
Majora's Mask (N64)
The Wind Waker (Gamecube)
Four Swords Adventures (Gamecube)
Twilight Princess (Gamecube/Wii)
Skyward Sword (Wii)
Breath of the Wild (Wii U/Switch)
Tears of the Kingdom (Switch)
Echoes of Wisdom (Switch)

OoT is still at the top of my list. I liked its gameplay and the style of all the character models.

They didn’t really change the gameplay for like 4 more games.

Actually, outside of the motion controls, the Wii version of Skyward Sword felt the most like the N64 games because it didn’t have camera controls and had to Z trigger to move the camera.

Hrmmm true? I would need to play them all to confirm, been too long.

You can pop them in an emulator. The overall controls and gameplay haven’t really changed for multiple games. They expand a bit on the sword mechanics, but there isn’t anything drastic enough to feel that different.

It’s like… yup, it’s a 3D Zelda game

The first NES one mastered the feeling of simplicity and still being good. Basically a proof of concept for the series.

Hmm… I liked the original, how simple it is while still being very challenging (though maybe a bit confusing and with no real conveyance) for the time. My favorite is probably A Link to the Past, though. I still need to get in and really play a lot of the games, since I only really have a surface level appreciation for most of them, despite being a huge longtime Zelda fan.
