Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, a gacha game that incorporated stories from across the greater Final Fantasy VII series, will shut down later this year. In a post on the Ever Crisis website, game producer Shoichi Ichikawa was surprisingly candid about the reason for the game’s shut down. “It has become difficult to find a balance between production costs and the demand for character weapons and gear,” he said. Players will have a few more months to enjoy the game before Square Enix shuts the servers down on October 6th.

"We understand that this news may be disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for the abrupt nature of this announcement." The notice continues by saying that while Square Enix has worked to provide a good experience for players since the game's launch, it has "determined that it will be difficult to continue doing so." Before the game's scheduled closure, players can use Red Crystals (in-game currency) until the end of service. Unfortunately, only Taiwan residents will be able to receive refunds for any unused Red Crystals (which are purchased with real-world money).

Not surprising, the revenue went down a lot, in 2023 when it launched on steam it was 12 million dollars now down to 660K. Too much gacha and pay to win mechanics in it as time goes on. Good thing all the sexy Tifa PLOT outfits from it have been exported by fans to Rebirth and Remake lol

Ever crisis under the highwind Tifa PLOT scene lol they adapted the high affection and no low affection scene at all and thus Tifa goes full throttle PLOT always baby lol

- The postgame stuff, ie. Yuffie doing the pagoda, Red visiting a dying Bugenhagen, is all covered during the seven days Cloud gives the crew before going to the Crater

- Some new character content in some scenes inside the Crater, specifically a scene where Cloud and Tifa resolve to "never be apart" and find somewhere to both settle down after the battle is over

- Cloud's dialogue about "meeting" Aerith after being rescued by Tifa is now "I think... we can meet her there" as opposed to "I think... I can meet her there" in the original game
- Yuffie and Vincent are shown assisting in evacuating Midgar as Meteor nears impact
- The "500 years later" scene is the same as the one from the opening of Advent Children
