TL;DR: Season 4 "Full Spectrum Bash" pivots FragPunk toward PvE with the Pigment Realm, a roguelike mode where cards are looted into an active backpack, drawn via Crystals, and can be synthesized (three-of-a-kind) or paired with periodic Blessings for on-the-fly builds. Maps unlock using Crystals (locked zones spawn no enemies), and a new Perk System grants per-Lancer PvE XP and Talent Points to unlock permanent talent trees; three Pigment maps plus a new Shard Clash map, Caesarea, are added. New Lancer Wildstyle uses "Stained" effects to disrupt enemy vision and movement with paint-based zones and vision-blocking devices. Anniversary rewards include up to 2,500 coins and an Extreme-tier skin set, and the studio says future updates will keep experimenting with new modes and arcade-style content.Season 4 Launch and New PvE Direction
Bad Guitar Studio has released Season 4 of FragPunk, titled “Full Spectrum Bash,” marking the game’s first anniversary with a renewed focus on player-versus-environment (PvE) content. The update introduces the Pigment Realm, a new mode designed to expand replayability and depth beyond the game’s established Shard Clash format. According to the studio, the mode emphasizes adaptability and progression within each match rather than reliance on pre-configured loadouts. The Pigment Realm: Narrative and Concept
The Pigment Realm is framed as a narrative continuation following the Toy Frontline incident. In the storyline, toy monsters retrieved for research were mistakenly delivered to the studio of Wildstyle, a character known for her graffiti art. When she incorporated them into her work using glunite-infused paint, the monsters were inadvertently reactivated. This narrative backdrop supports the mode’s chaotic and experimental design, which adopts a roguelike structure with randomized elements and evolving builds.Core Gameplay Systems and Mechanics
In the Pigment Realm, players no longer enter matches with predefined card decks. Instead, cards are acquired dynamically through combat and stored in an in-game backpack. Defeated enemies can drop cards, with drop rates scaling based on team size. Cards collected are immediately active without usage limits.Several interconnected systems shape progression within a run. Players can spend Crystals to draw Shard Cards, combine three identical cards through a synthesis system to create stronger versions, and select one of three Blessings after clearing set wave intervals. These systems are intended to encourage on-the-fly decision-making and varied playstyles across sessions.
Exploration, Resources, and Long-Term Progression
Maps in the Pigment Realm unlock gradually, requiring Crystals to access new zones. Enemies do not spawn in locked areas, allowing players to manage risk and pacing. Alongside in-match growth, a new Perk System tracks character-specific progression. Each Lancer gains experience only when used in PvE, earning Talent Points that unlock permanent talent trees. Experience gains are influenced by the character played, match duration, and waves cleared, particularly in Endless mode.Season 4 also adds three maps—Acme Underpass, Art Town, and Collège Alpin—for the Pigment Realm, along with a new Shard Clash map, Caesarea.
New Lancer and Anniversary Content
Season 4 introduces a new Lancer, Wildstyle (Melody Lovelock), whose abilities revolve around applying a “Stained” effect that alters enemy visibility, movement, and damage taken. Her skills include temporary health buffs, area-denial paint zones, and vision-blocking graffiti devices. To commemorate the anniversary, players can earn up to 2,500 in-game coins and an Extreme-tier weapon skin set through event participation. Bad Guitar Studio stated that future updates will continue to experiment with new modes and arcade-style content while expanding FragPunk’s overall feature set.
