FreedomPop intends to take things further this time around with their recent deal with Intel, where the latter will assist FreedomPop in developing a Wi-Fi first smartphone.

This new smartphone will make use of Intel’s low-priced “SoFIA” Atom x3 processors, and the new FreedomPop handset will initially look for a Wi-Fi signal for calls, texts and data. Should there be none of the mentioned in the vicinity, it is time to call the cavalry in, making a switchover to a cellular signal in a seamless manner – fingers crossed.

A Wi-Fi First smartphone looks like a good phone for people who stay at home a lot, and have free wi-fi at work, and school.
 
Hrmmm, not sure about this. Can be dangerous to use wifi due to security and I know schools wouldn't want people making their wifi heavy for calls and such.
