...Sounds a bit right. The current Wiis being sold no longer supports GC games, controllers, or memory cards. It's like how the 3DS no longer supports GBA games anymore either, only through VC atm, which they still haven't released to the public just yet..
I really hope this happends I missed out on the gamecube and the Wii I already like that you can still play wii games but if gamecube games will be playable through the VC that would just be perfect for me.
"Nintendo Life reports that earlier this month company exec Amber Mcollom said, “GameCube discs will not be compatible with Wii U, but a number of the games that were playable on GameCube can be downloaded from WiiWare.â€[/background]
Nintendo Life added that Reggie Fils-Aime was cornered by Kotaku on the same subject recently, and he apparently said with a smile and a wink, “That is a great question. And personally I would love for that to happen, but we have nothing to announce right now.â€"[/background]
It would make sense for them to have GameCube titles on the Wii U VC. If for some reason they don't....guess I'll just have to hold on to my Wii and make sure it'll last me for a while.
How long would it take to download a GameCube virtual console game, I'm wondering... would it be compressed or something or would users be downloading a full 4GB. I know they can scrub the ISOs when it comes with the illegal business, and that can include just the bare essentials, but still, it comes out to around 1GB minimum for a game.
Great to see anyway. Total backwards compatibility would be awesome but hey, can't have it all I guess.
The funny thing is the later models actually KNOW the disc is PS2 but despite beiung able to make virtual memory cards and knowing the format they can't play it. Mine's like that.
Why the hell doesn't this support n64 cartridges? I am so mad Nintendo doesn't allow us to play all of our old games on one system. Where would I plug my NES games in?!
