What are your thoughts on the issue of Gamergate?
In case you haven't heard of it... Here's a pretty shortened version of it:
So since August there has been a prevalent issue in gaming.
It originated with the "Quinnspiracy" but then blossomed into a much larger issue when game journalists refused to cover it. Instead they decided to ignore that issue.
While this happened it came to light that members of the gaming press were also providing funding (via Patreon... a site that allows users to pledge a certain amount of money to be paid monthly or by project to people) Zoe Quinn.
At this time, Adam Baldwin ended up retweeting a video from the Internet Aristocrat (video is here) with the hashtag "Gamergate". Once that happened the movement began to take off. (244,000 retweets in the first week.)
Though when attempting to silence people did not work... Game journalists tried a tactic declaring that the gamer identity was dead. Numerous sites dropped these very similar articles effectively decrying gamers within the span of 24 hours (around August 28th).

Then cries arose that gamers were all just misogynistic white men (and trash). But in response, a new twitter trend started up called #Notyourshield to state that not all gamers were white and/or men, but that their opinions were being dismissed also.
On Sept 4th Zoe Quinn responded to call it something to discredit Gamergate and spread disinformation.
The next day (Sept 5th) Quinn started the hashtag GamergateOver on Twitter to try shutting things down when she posted an IRC chatlog that supposedly showed 4chan was behind everything.
Though on the 6th, The Escapist investigated and found that some of the logs had been taken out of context and were incorrect. (Their article.)
On the 17th, Milo Yiannopoulos reported the list of an email ring used to communicate in secret to police each other and keep everyone in the gaming journalist sites toeing the line. (His article, warning it has a video that may auto-play. So have volume set to low if you click that link.)
On Sept 21st another issue cropped up. Mighty No 9's community manager (Dina) has been blocking Backers of the Kickstarter from Mighty No 9's twitter because of their comments in regard to the Gamergate movement. Which has also lead to people filing chargebacks to get their kickstarter donations returned.
And earlier on October 1st, Intel (CPU maker) pulled an ad campaign from Gamasutra because people emailed them (Intel) with concerns that their ad revenue supported controversial articles (like the one posted by Leigh Alexander).
