Games that should be remade?

What games do you think should get remakes and why?

Personally, I think the following would be pretty good choices:

1. Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2, just to see them in a Super Mario All Stars inspired 16 bit style. It could also make them more welcoming to complete newbies not used to how rough around the edges they are.

2. Wario Land series. 1, Virtual Boy, 2 and 3 would be really nice games to see redone with 3D models/cartoon style graphics ala DuckTales Remastered or the Castle of Illusion remake. Especially important, because they either haven't aged too well (Wario Land 2 and 3) or are basically impossible to play legally (Virtual Boy Wario Land).

3. Luigi's Mansion. This game would look fantastic with HD graphics and sound great with an orchestrated soundtrack. Add how short it is, and the game could be fairly easily redone and sold as a budget title for the Wii U.

4. Link's Awakening and the Oracle Zelda games. Them + A Link Between Worlds graphics style = awesome.

5. Donkey Kong 64, if only to see its reputation somewhat salvaged and the game made better still.

But what games do you think should be remade and why?

Original SNES Star Fox, and an actual release of Star Fox 2. It'd be a great set to release on one cartridge. I'd definitely agree about Luigi's Mansion, it'd look wonderful in HD. There are a lot of Wii games I'd love to see remastered into HD, particularly Galaxy one and two. They're already beautiful, but super HD on top of that? Mmm....

Pokemon Snap would be AMAZING if they made a new one. The motion controls would actually work really well for it, and with over 600 Pokemon, and the capability of HD? It'd be glorious!

I would LOVE to see Banjo-Kazooie and it's sequel get remastered into HD and rereleased.... Too bad that'll likely never happen. :(

Is it sad the only games I would think of remaking are Faceball 2000 and a game similar to the style of Pokemon XD involving snagging and purifying. I'm sure there are many other choices out there but this was all I could think of.

Donkey Kong 64, definitely.

That entire game is amazing besides three things:

1. Draw distance

2. The crazy glitches

3. Beaver Bother

A remake on the Wii U or 3DS would have no issue with these flaws (as long as they remove or fix beaver bother) and be pretty much perfect. It's such an amazing game and incredibly underrated.

1. Rad Racer 1 and 2 - simply because it was the first 3D game and that Sega 3D Classics motorcycle game Super Hang-on uses the exact sprites and textures / engine as it (and I haven't seen anyone mention that anywhere online yet it is so obvious, oddly). Rad Racer needs a 3D remake and entry into the 3D Classics for 3DS. It deserves its rightful place and recognition, in my opinion.

2. Everything Nin3DS said for Zelda, Wario, and Luigi's Mansion - I felt that way a long time ago. I'd also like to see Minish Cap remade as well.

3.Dr. Chaos for NES. this game still has a scare-factor and unique style that no other game has copied to this day. The storyline is very good and takes from other conceptual artists / writers like H.P. Lovecraft. this game could be amazing with updated controls and graphics and remixed music.

4. The Rockman / Megaman series' lesser-known gem Rockman & Forte / Megaman & Bass. We got a horrible port of it in the GBA era but it needs a remake for the 3DS.

And number 5. Super Mario RPG! this game needs a direct sequel if not a remake! It spawned a lot of other RPG games in the Mario & Luigi series and the Paper Mario series, but none of those games have the graphics, battle system, or feel of the original MaRPG.

I guess I never experienced any crazy glitches or at least I don't remember them. What was the matter with Beaver Bother? Does it just not work well or something? I'm sure I played it as I went through the whole game, but I don't remember it being glitchy...

Super Mario Land 2 would be a cool remake. I agree with Brunn on Pokemon Snap. not a remake, but a new updated one is due. The gamepad seems perfect for it. I also thought the Wiimote pointer would be perfect for a StarFox game but that never came about so who knows if Nintendo will ever make it happen.

I think Majora's Mask is ready for a 3DS update, although it would be amazing on the Wii U. Would also be cool to see a port of the big SNES RPGs (Final Fantasy, Mana, Chrono, etc) put on the Wii U still using sprites, but taking full advantage of a 1920x1080 resolution along with new particle effects and shaders.

Oh, don't say that! Wiimotes, silly gyro controls, and poking at touch screens to do things in the game are my worst fear about Nintendo actually making a new Star Fox game! *Shudders*

I think I'd like to see Star Fox 64 get a remake. I mean Star Fox 64 was one of my favorite child hood games. I know you can get it from the shop on the Wii, but I think there should be a remake. I mean I honestly think they should restrain from the Star Fox games like Assalt and the other one. I don't like Fox moving around. Personally, I prefer him to be in the air.

Dude, there already is a Star Fox 64 remake... It's on the 3DS.

... That actually flew right over my head. I have never seen it in GameStop either. xD ... Awkward.

They actually did a very good job with it. Star Fox 64 3D looks really nice. My main complaint is that instead of remastering the original dialogue, they rerecorded it. A few minor points of dialogue were changed, and some of the characters come off a bit flat occasionally. It's probably not something that most people would notice, but I know the entire games dialogue by heart, and it bugs me to know end when something is slightly off! XD

Getting back on topic, I really wish they'd remake Yoshi's Story, making it HD and much longer with more levels. I know a lot of people weren't fond of the game because it was too easy, but I really enjoyed it and thought it was a fun one nonetheless.

Since we have A Link Between Worlds now it would be awesome if Nintendo would do a Link to the Past remake with the same graphic style. It wouldn't take long since most of the character/item models and most of the entire map are already complete. I think it would fit in very nice. Also I may be the millionth person to say this but I would love to see a Majora's Mask remake. Originally I thought it would be nice to have on 3DS but after seeing what they did with Wind Waker HD it would probably look really good on Wii U. Either console would be fine though in my opinion.

Haha you don't think it would be better with pointing to aim rather than using a joystick? It feels like the Wiimote was made for on rail shooters. Granted, I don't like the Wii Motion+ style of aiming, it can get off center too easily. I much prefer the old WIimote's style, it was much more accurate and fluid.

There is a lot of clipping through walls that can happen, although 99% of the time you need to do it on purpose. Beaver Bother is just a pain in the bottom and not fun to play. :P There is also some kind of barrier around the hole that prevents the beavers from falling in at an angle... so annoying.

Personally no... I like the joystick, to me it feels more like flying a ship! The wiimotes would work decently for guns (I think we played House of the Dead one time on the Wii... not sure) but I don't feel like they'd work well at all for flying an Arwing. I mean, it'd work I guess, but I wouldn't enjoy it in the slightest. I'd be okay if they offered both a weird Wiimote control option as well as a normal pro controller option... But knowing Nintendo, I'm sure they'd shove a bunch of tablet and Wiimote controls in and claim it the way of the future and completely blow off all traditional controls...

Those controls, Benoit, would be great for a future KI game but I'm not sure for a Star Fox game. I believe those stages in SMG2 where you ride a bird to get a star had some pretty decent controls that would also be nice for a SF game. (The problem is I don't know much of SF.)

What if they made aiming separate from flying? Use the nunchuck to fly, and the Wiimote to aim.

If they had those controls along with a separate set of normal pro controller controls, that'd be great. I'm sure that control scheme would work well, if you like the motion controls. I just don't like motion controls, at all really. The only reason I bought the Wii and Wii U is more from loyalty to the franchises and company, then for any of their silly new gimmicks they've come up with. If I didn't really, really love Nintendo, I wouldn't have bothered. If the Playstation 3 had shoehorned in so many weird controls and controller styles, I would never have bothered to buy get one, especially since I have no connection with any of their franchises (I never played Playstation growing up until the very end of PS2).

I never liked the Wii mote, or the Nunchuck, and I though the original classic controller was a bit of a slap in the face after coming from the Gamecube... The Wii's Pro Controller wasn't real great either, didn't feel well designed, was too light weight, and was uncomfortable to hold. I hate the Wii U's tablet controller, and I don't really like having to use gyro controls on the 3DS, or being forced to try and tap the touch screen on either while I'm playing a game. I just like normal, everyday controllers. It's something I really appreciated about the PS3 when I got it- no gimmicky controls unless you wanted them; at least in all the games I have, their microphone thingy was always the optional bit. With Nintendo, most of the Wii's games I experienced made you play at least with a Wii mote and Nunchuck, and half the time they didn't bother to quickly program in the option for using the Pro Controller at all.

That's the main thing I've loved about my Wii U- so far all the games I've gotten have supported the Pro Controller. I don't even bother to get out the silly Wiimotes anymore, unless I'm playing a Wii game. It's just so much more comfortable and precise for me to use a normal controller. So yeah, I would be fine with motion controls in a Star Fox game, or them putting minimaps on my giant, plastic brick tablet, or whatever they want to do- so long as I can still choose to play it with normal, traditional controls instead. There jsut isn't a reason to not put in both options if they're dead set on using motion controls- and I think they'd sell Wii U's a lot more to the 'hardcore' game crowd their trying to appeal to if they advertised the games as also using proper, precision controllers as well.
