It's a new month! It's Christians time! And new updates on the GF forums.

No one really pop out at me for MotM, so I decided to choose myself for all the years of running this forum. Will be a member up next month for sure. Congrats me :)

To kick off the news for this month, I am still looking for staff. The mod team has been filled but still looking for more website staff, vice admins and a few community members. Check out this topic for instructions.

Speaking of which, congrats to Super Bowser Bros for becoming the 3rd and final mod of the site. Also congrats to Mori for helping with the website.

At this time I am truly looking for a vice-admin, apply if interested!

Don't forget about our current contest, Xenoblade giveaway Contest!

Something I like feedback on:

What are your thoughts on a adult board to chat about 18+ things? Obviously there won't be any material but merely chat. One would have to confirm they are 18 years of age before gaining access. Let me know in the comments below.

Don't forget about GF's clan topic. Help us make GF a clan to be feared.

Gamingforce clan. I really like to get a GF clan going in most games if possible. I plan to try and set up a better presence in the up coming CoD ghost game. But a clan does not thrive from one game alone, if you like to fully support a GF clan, see this board please. I am looking for help, hints tricks and anything else you can offer.

That does it for the last update for this year! See you guys next year for another update, till then have a safe and merry holidays and enjoy your Christmas gifts of video games.

Since the last update, GF currently has 119,601 posts and has made 1,686 posts since last update and our current member count is 1,723 and we've gain 15 members since last update.

Congrats new mod helper guys and what not. Also great job on the MOTM D. You deserve it.

18+. For me, I don't have any problem with it and think it would be fine but that does not say much because I used to own a major adult network which includes an adult only forum(Yee-haw!).
One of the things you should know is that if you run certian advertisements and affiliates they may pull out of working with you as many don't condone adult contest(because they are imature/virgins/12yrs old, etc). You'll have to check with the important affiliates to see if they are ok with it.

Honestly, it would depend on the demographic and the level of maturity of people here. This is a gaming forum, and although there are a few adults here, the subject will attract younger members as well, I get that it would be 18+ only, but I am not sure if those 20+ and much older would feel comfortable discussing certain things with 18 year olds. It might be a bit weird. This is also including the 18 year olds out there who have the maturity of a 6 year old.

This was this issue my brother had when he wanted a mature section for his forum. The problem with that was the subject of his forum, attracted a lot of teens much younger than 18, and the few adults that were there, came from my forum, and they were uncomfortable being there with so many teens.

Also, there can be a lot of stigma associated with it. I caught a lot of shit from idiots who thought that TC was a porn forum, just because we talk about sex, and everything else there. And then there were the people who thought I'd have Twilight porn there. Which brings me to my next point.

There are some things that are probably best that you don't know about people.. and once the genie is out of the bottle, it is not going back in.

Buahahaha, pure of mind.
You are not seriously considering adding a forum to discuss sex in video games?

You are kidding around here?

Someone please help me out and tell him.
I don't see you coming up with any ways in increasing discussion on the forum. And there is plenty of adult material to discuss in games.

Only about 80 ways in my review. Here's the 81st.

All of the successful forums either have something that is offered no where else or lock in members by getting them involved with something in the forum.

The problem you have here is the common phpbb member swap problem.
Forumpromotion.net is truly a pathetic forum in many ways. 90% of the members at FP go in a circle. They join each others' forums and keep making more forums together. None of them bother to advertise outside of forumpromotion.net. The problem with this is pretty obvious to me but none of them seem to get it.
If you run in that circle then you end up getting a few hundred members and 75% of them all own forums. How many of the active guys own forums at GF? Is it common that almost every individual owns a forum?
Nah, it's not. I ran an adult fetish network attached to a forum and there was 1.5K members per month registering and there and I only heard of 2 people there who owned a forum. My forum has never been known by a single FP member. And through the two years of owning it I've never recognized a name. I go to any forum that has been mentioned at forumpromotion and there is a billion peoples's names I've seen before.

So you need to quit going to that useless forumpromotion and all of the forums attached to it. You need to put in effort to promote elsewhere. There is no point into looking for forum owners or people trying to promote their own forums. FP itself has 30 registered members online right now. Those stats are a sad joke towards the age of the site.

Hissae, you are on administration over there. Of course you won't agree. Then again you'd expect me not to like FP based on this topic

Members like Seanface have worked their butts off trying to promote through FP for years and what has it brought? average of 3 members at their forums online.

FP members are all forum owners trying to get members for their own forum. This makes it tough to find legit people from there.

Not going to get into that topic, but.. FP can only go so far. By the looks of it, Sean is relying on FP and only FP, and that doesn't work. He has to branch out, using FP as a tool but using other places as well. It's not just FP where this type of thing happens, the exact same thing happens on Outline with people just advertising on Outline and getting the same group of people every time and the forum dies three months later. The trick is to advertise as much as you can on all kinds of different forums, not just relying on one. Take advantage of what FP has to offer, but also take advantage of any advertising sections on other forums, and ads in your signatures on other gaming forums, etc.

Demon_Skeith,
I'm not really sure having an 18+ forum would benefit you that much for the reasons BA pointed out.

I think instead of trying to add a new section or forum to be this miracle boost you should just stay the course. You're constantly making topics about a variety of different gaming related matters... Which is what really matters on a gaming site. (I mean people probably wouldn't go to a gaming site to talk about 18+ stuff.  They're more than likely here to talk and read about games and game stuff. So just focus on that. I mean you're one of the longer running gaming sites out there so that has to count for something. )

Also, keep promoting your site on twitter since it can't hurt.

AidsorHiv,

I, for the most part, agree with you. FP by itself is not enough. There are far too many people who rely on it too heavily and nothing really results from it.  They make the same mistakes over and over again.
Sure it can help to bolster activity if you use it for the post packs or post exchanges... but those, at best, are a band-aid solution to the activity issue.

I've stopped using FP to gain members a long time ago, as you recommend I use it as a tool for resources such as GFX and learning about new promotion tips and using post exchange as a way of promoting on other forums while others make posts on my forum. Perpahs you view as pointless in your eyes but it has gotten me much over these last five years.

Now my question is, WHERE do I go to advertise to draw in members? Sure I can google places but that's what everyone else does and most of the forums that come up block advertising.  I also still feel I need something on the forum to hook people on the forum, which has been difficult to do.

pretty much what I said above, FP is a great site for new forums to get started and for old forums to stay up to date with things.
It's not a member gaining website.

To make things clear, the 18+ forum isn't a miracle all mighty activity boosting board I'm shooting for, just something a bit more to make current members post a bit more and drum up more interesting topics.

but general interest in this idea is negative, so just consider the idea scrapped for now.

I honestly have to agree with Aidsorhiv here. I don't think a forum that's 18+ a good thing for the forum. The whole thing of sex is, for many people, very awkward to talk about. Even the difference between someone who's 20 and 40, the person who's 40 is gonna usually find talking about sex pretty awkward. Plus. you're overlooking the fact that any kid could lie about their age and get access, or did you forget about Hachi's shenanigans that he had on the forum 4+ years ago? I just think that you're either going to alienate a big part of the forum, both with the younger audience, that's now allowed access into the forum, and the older audience that's not comfortable talking about it. Not only that, but you're ignoring the fact of the huge scandal that could happen with one of the younger persons lying about their age to gain access to the forum.

AIDSorHIV needs to shut up about FP. It often appears to be the only topic of discussion with him.

However, I don't see why FP is so rant-worthy. Sure, there's a lot of dumbasses, and the member circle is honestly pretty annoying at this point, but it's not that bad.

Now, can we lock this topic? It's probably going to just get worse from here.
