A live-demo of God of War: Ascension's single-player campaign gave us a look at Kratos' new combat stylings, which looks to be faster, typically violent, and filled with experience orbs. Kratos can now manipulate the environment to create usable platforms from wreckage, pick up weapons on the ground (or in the backs of corpses) for use against enemies, and rewind time.

Camera angles tighten as Kratos clobbers enemies, and widens to present the grand scope of certain settings. He can now slam the ground for a devastating area-of-effect attack. Kratos climbs, kills, and kicks elephant-man mini-boss ass as expected.

Ascension is God of War, through and through, which is reassuring after the strange but interesting inclusion of multiplayer.
God of War Ascension releases March 12, 2013.

I have played the game God Of War: Ascension and I would have to say the graphics were good but they could of use more realistic. The story line for was good and on point the only thing you will need to change is to put more enemies on all stages. I also think the game could use more bosses to beat. I believe if you create more bosses it would get gamer's attention and curiosity to want to play the next release. Overall, this game is one of my favorite games.

Honestly, when I was looking at that, Kratos looked a little "cleaner" than I'm used to seeing him was the first thing to go through my head. But the brutality, I NEVER get tired of. The way he annihilated that Elephant man thing.....legendary...

I don't know why but I always wanted to play "God of War" but I never bought any of them for some reason. But seeing as this is some sort of prequel I might as well try and "start" with this when it comes out.

You're over analysing the game too much. The graphics were actually great. Like I said in a previous post, it looks too clean. And as for the storyline and needing more bosses, none of us has seen much or played this particular game then. So you can't really say what it does/ doesn't need right now.

And lastly, it's God of War. It ALREADY has gamer's attention.

Hmmm, I never get tired of the kills. I do however get tired of the character. I guess I just don't really like a character that is so selfish and little, but who never seems to consider how his actions affect others. Watching him walk past his daughter or flood an entire city because he can't take a moment for reflection has become an obstacle to gameplay I don't think I can get past. Of course I say that now, but if someone I know buys this game I won't say no to a few minutes (or hours) of playthrough.

God of War Ascension is exactly the kind of game fans would want. The developers of God of War: Ascension are teaching the old god a few new tricks - and not just by grafting on a multiplayer mode to the PlayStation 3 prequel. I have a Platinum Trophy from every God of War game. There's something about this that makes the game feel more magical, don't know what it is but I can certainly say that the character models look a lot better than the other games, and that is not to say that the others were ruthless. The enemies look very interesting and Kratos seems to have a bit more character than his normal 'ranginess' (that never bothered me anyway, I mean he is the GOD OF WAR).I will be getting my platinum trophy when this comes out.

I love God Of War and I was not sure where they would go with this. I am not one for prequels, only because there seem to be so many these days. Once I watched the trailer though you have to be excited about this game. Kratos looks like he just came out of the shower all clean and what not but this is a prequel. I wonder if they will use this game to spawn God Of War 4.

The only problem I have with this game is how it looks...well...pretty much exactly like the past games. I just hope they bring something new to the table, and it's not a rehash of older games. GoW has kind of been going through CoD rehash territory lately....

It hasn't gone that far yet... and I say that as someone who is rather over Kratos and his lack of reflection.

God of War hasn't gone anywhere near that route yet.

If there is a Sony series that's close to have done that, it's Ratchet and Clank

If something works, why change it and potentially break it?
