Turned 25 last Sunday (April 20th)... man it's just now sinking in that I'm 25! Anyways, got some cool stuff, gift cards for movies and restaurants, some Pacers swag, and a polo shirt. I'm most excited about the gifts my wife gave me. On Saturday she gave me a model of the Velociraptor claw from Jurassic Park. On Sunday morning, she hid 8 Easter eggs containing pieces of paper with letters on them and once I found them all I had to put them in order to figure out what my gift was. Here's the end result!

Unfortunately she ordered the Vita online because our local Best Buy didn't have any in stock. It should be getting here sometime this week. Here's a bonus pic of my cat, she's a big Nintendo fan:

Gratz on your Vita, and belated happy birthday! I want a Vita soooo bad right now, we're hoping to pick up one of the new Slims bundled with Borderlands 2 sometime soon after it releases. I want to play Dragon's Crown on one soooo bad! Also, that velociraptor claw is freakin' sweet.

Yeah I'm excited to play with it, especially because I have PS+ so I'll be downloading Uncharted, Gravity Daze, and Wipeout. My wife just told me it arrived so I'm super excited!

The claw is so sweet, I spent a good majority of the night pretending I was gutting people with it.

I agree with Brunn, that claw looks awesome! Hopefully when we get our PS Vita's we can play some games together! I heard about the Borderlands bundle this January but I wasn't sure if it was real or it had came out, I'm so glad Brunn just confirmed it for me, so i'll be getting one sometime soon! (Been bored on the Nintendo 3DS and I've missed my PSP that broke last year :( ) The one game I really want to play is Call of Duty: Declassified :p

Actually, I'm giving it a second thought. The slim kind of looks like a toy and other than it being bundled with Borderlands 2 with some DLC I wouldn't get it. >_< I'm so confused in which one to get, well it seems like i'll wait a bit, watch some unboxings and see if it's worth it. Hopefully they'll still have some in stock by the time I decide if I get it. :(

Welcome to the Vita world as well. Theres so many features that are awesome. Most of em are hardly used but I know youll appreciate them. Makes me think how awesome itd be if Sony and Nintendo made a system together.

Also theres a lot more gems for the Vita then what stores show. Amazon Vita titles, youll get a huge variety of games.

They did change a few things on the slim. The screen is technically lower quality, and doesn't have as vibrant of colors, but supposedly has more truer colors. They also changed the back touch screen to be slightly smaller and increased the size of the area where your fingers rest on the back, so you're less likely to accidentally trigger things and it's more comfortable to hold. Also an improved battery life. At least, that's what I've read about it so far!

I guess the screen going from OLED to LCD is a big deal for some people because it's not quite as vibrant, but the LCD doesn't look bad to me at all! Overall it comes out to be a lesser expensive option, so it'll be the one I'm going with, although I'll still be checking out some reviews first.

It also has a MicroUSB charger and coming from somebody who had to hunt down a replacement charger for the standard model... yeah... it's not a pretty site.

Yeah I'm still debating. I did some research this morning of what you two, Bunn and fantanoice mention. So far my concern is if the first slim model comes out is 3G/WiFi if not then i'll get the PS Vita model 1000. The only reason i'd get the bundle is for the free game and DLC of Borderlands. Personally I like bright things, so the different between the two could change my opinion.

but yeah. Second look on the physical appearance of the Vita isn't bad and the improvements on the outside seem really nice. But the brightness attracts my attention more for some reason. :p I guess i'll wait too and look up reviews after it's launch date. :) Glad I still have $50 in my PSN account to buy a PS+ subscription :D

That's pretty cool, though I was never really interested in the Vita. The most likely reason is that I haven't looked into it at all. What exactly makes it so special aside from the 3G compatibility?

Honestly the 3G isn't *that* noteworthy considering most phones can be used as WiFi hotspots anyway.

I'd say the best things about it are:

- An interesting array of exclusive titles (though still lagging behind 3DS in terms of numbers)

- The PSN+ subscription service which allows you to basically rent a number of full retail games for a month/3months/year

- Cross-Buy titles on PSN, which allows you to play certain games you've bought on it on PSP, Vita, PS3 and/or PS4

- Backwards compatibility with PS1 / PSP titles through PSN (doesn't have a slot for PSP retail disks, though)

- PS3/4 Remote Play, which basically allows you to stream certain PS3 and PS4 titles to your Vita so you can play them away from the console/TV (like the WiiU tablet). The games can be played wherever there is an Internet connection, so you don't need to be home to use it.

Basically it has a lot of cool features that aren't really available on other platforms like 3DS and phones, though it is lagging behind in terms of actual games available. Still, if those features are appealing to you then maybe have a look into grabbing one.

Don't get excited about remote play though, unless you have a PS4. There are apparently very, very few games that take advantage of it on the PS3...

The PS Vita is a pretty nice system hardware wise, but it has a few things holding it back:

- Lack of Western developers support: the system is great if you love Japanese games but good Western games aren't being made often enough

- Lack of advertising: I don't recall seeing any advertising for the Vita

- Ridiculous memory card prices: You need a memory card for the system. A 32 GB memory card (Vita games are around 3GB and under) costs $80!! I bought a Sony branded 32GB SD card for my 3DS and it was only $23 on sale (around $35 regularly).

That being said, it does have quite a few things going for it:

+ Japanese games galore: Weaboo paradise

+ Screen is gorgeous: OLED screen is bright, colorful, big, and the resolution is high enough (544p vs the 3DS' 240p)

+ System OS is fast and responsive

+ The PS Store on the Vita is by far the best online store I've used on any console. It absolutely obliterates the eShop on the 3DS. Games are organized and easy to find.

+ Interaction with PS3/PS4: I haven't been able to use this but it's gotta be convenient for people who do

+ BC with PSP and PS1: This is the virtual console done right! Sony didn't start from scratch like Nintendo did with the Wii U. They've had most of their PSP and PS1 games available early on and they just made almost all of them available as of this weekend. No slow trickle like Nintendo, everything is out there and the price is right.

Congrats! Although, I think it would have been hilarious if you would've purposely spelled Playstation Vita wrong, lol.

Buy Persona 4 Golden. Only game ever to surpass SM64 on my favorite game ever list. Danganronpa and Tearaway are fantastic as well.

Then Persona 3 (PSP version) if you enjoyed P4G.

Seriously.
