Multi GTA Online for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Will Shut Down

As we continue to move forward with updates and support for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto Online — as well as prepare for this Fall's launches of the new expanded and enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S — the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA Online, including website stat tracking via the Rockstar Games Social Club, will officially be shutting down on December 16, 2021. In addition, Shark Cash Cards for GTA Online will no longer be sold for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions after September 15, 2021.

Please note, these changes are strictly for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA Online, and will have no impact on access to, or progress within, the Grand Theft Auto V Story Mode.
Additionally, website stat tracking via the Rockstar Games Social Club and other features for select PS3 and Xbox 360 titles will be shutting down on September 16, 2021. These include:
  • Website stat tracking, online multiplayer, and leaderboards for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Max Payne 3
  • Website stat tracking for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of L.A. Noire
All these changes will have no impact on access or progress in Story Mode for any of these titles on either platform.

I'm surprise that GTA Online is still online. This is sad news for GTA Online gamers who still play GTA Online on older consoles.
 
I mean, it's not that surprising considering how old the platforms are. I'm not even sure what the last DLC was for GTA Online on the PS3 and Xbox 360
 
If you mean the PS3 and the Xbox 360 version, then you are probably correct. But GTA Online on the other platforms is doing extremely well especially with the new updates.
 
Any other developer and I would definitely be worried, to be fair. But I trust Rockstar Games to not be stupid and will never go for an online-only GTA title
 
It's about time and is as expected that they shut it down. To be quite frank that's 2 consoles behind so I can imagine that being the reason. They honestly need to come out with GTA 6 and stop holding off on it.
 
And there will be way more $$$$ with a single-player campaign. An online-only GTA just doesn't make sense because their stories have always been what gamers have loved trying out first before jumping onto the online mode

The fact the planned GTA 5 offline DLC got canceled, disagrees with you ^^;
 
That's different though as the DLC is paid-for and obviously they were never going to make as much from DLC as they would be from online. I think most of the DLC content just got put into the online mode anyway. You are seriously underestimating how much people love the singleplayer story and how much trust their is in Rockstar :p
