Saw top gun maverick. Movie was good enough storywise, and they actually showed "Maverick" changing the wing sweep angle of the F-14 Tomcat during dogfight by moving the right lever in the cockpit this time (the yellow lever below), while in the first Top Gun movie they did not show this really important thing lol
And in the F/A - 18 Hornet they showed the pilots moving the right small" joystick " on the throttles that is used to aim the targeting laser for the laser guided bomb.
And "Phoenix" pushed the right switch to extinguish the fire on her fighter's engine and flipped the right switches for mid air engine restart
The character development continuation stuff from the fist movie is good with "Maverick". The Bro stuff with "Iceman", the new combat pilots stuff are nicely
done, "Hangman" is basically the new "Iceman" + young "Maverick" lol, so characters stuff are pretty good.
Now the "bad part". Errors with the Radar modes
and HUD (Heads Up Display). HUD color should stay green even when have you have a solid lock on an
enemy target.
Radar Modes.
They should have used this radar to detect air to air targets :
Instead of this GMT Radar lol:
No BVR (Beyond Visual Range) combat at all, and in real life, the kort parad (originally performed by a swedish combat pilot) or the pugachev cobra dogfight maneuver "Maverick" pulled is not that useful.
The maneuver is only useful when the enemy is really close behind you and is using guns instead of missiles and A good combat pilot can easily prevent
the maneuver by not getting too close to the target and by controlling your lead pursuit speed when engaging the target with guns, but nowadays you almost always
use air to air missiles during close range air to air dogfights anyway and not guns. Still, for a movie, the dogfight scenes are good to look at.
The movie is mainly about the F/A - 18 Hornet "waifu", but The F-14 Tomcat is the "heroine waifu" during the final dogfight vs newer more advance Russian Fighters,
nice touch there, I like. The F-14 Tomcat is a legendary fighter "waifu" afteral lol.
