Now you'll find no greater fan of Mario than myself. Some of my greatest memories are planted in searching for warp zones In some of The earliest games but when is it fair to say that he could use a rest? I mean, as far as Mario goes he seems to be quite rapidly moving from Nintendo spokesperson to digital embodiment of Nintendo. It's only been recently that they've dug up some of the great characters of the past but only with the "guess who's back in town!" pretense. But all this being said my contention is it really at this point isn't even economically feasible for Mario ever to have a break. What say you lot?

If I'm reading that right, are you saying that Mario should take a break from the limelight?

Hm. Nintendo seems to love its gaming icons. Even Microsoft doesn't whore out Master Chief quite as hard as Nintendo does Mario (though Mario has been around longer). Who would replace our mustached plumber?

My only guess would be to bring back Mario, and push forward a few more existing series. But looking at our characters, Samus, Link, DK and Kirby have all had their own game in the past year, but then Mario's had a few more.

For things like Mario Kart and whatnot, I don't think a DK Kart or Kirby Kart would sell as well as Mario would.

I'd say the only option would be to try and get out a few games alongside Mario to make the flood of the red M hat seem smaller.

Two things. Let's call them Diddy Kong Racing and Kirby Air Ride, shall we? They're not EXACTLY Mario Kart, but they are racing games with characters from their respective series.

Anyway, Mario doesn't need to take a break IMO, since it's one of the best incomes Nintendo's got, so they may as well push it. Personally the more Mario games the better, it keeps you interested in the series without waiting huge gaps between games.
