Hello guys. Can someone help me make a competitive pokemon team in Pokemon X/Y? It's been one month since I started playing competitive and I don't know how to make a competitive team. I would prefer it to have Mega Charizard X as a lead.

1. Choose proper Natures and EVs. Modest or timid is good for special attackers and Adamant and jolly is good for physical attackers. Calm and Bold are good for certain defensive pokemon. EVs can be gained by super training or by fainting pokemon. Try and work from there.

2. Strategize. Do you like to use status conditions, stat boosts, ChestoRest, Attacks or a mix of all of them? Items should also go into this category for it can change the tide of the game real fast. If you have Charizard X (like me all trained) I suggest you have it know dragon dance. Serebii makes it easy for you to tell how to get egg moves in the details side

3. Good typing. Know what is super effective to what. Choose pokemon based not only on their stats but their moves and how they help your team.

One thing you must have is a Rapid Spinner. Since Charizard is Fire/Flying before Mega Evolution a stealth rock can potentially bring it down to half HP. I've seen multiple Charizards X with the move sets Dragon Dance, Outrage, Brick Break , and Flare Blitz. My preferable Rapid Spinner is an Excadrill with Mold Breaker because not only will it rapid spin the stealth rocks away but when you do at least one Swords Dance it can turn into a big threat. A Rapid Spinner is a must have, an alternative to Excadrill would be Starmie or Donpham, but is needed. The other four can be your chose, you should at least have a Sp. Attacker but that's about it, it's really up to you.

Have types and moves that are good against every type would be one step. Another is then training with those Pokémon, and getting the IV's better. Also get some double combo's. An example of this is my cousin has SoulSilver. In SoulSilver, I gave him a Salamance. Salamance uses Fly and his Feraligtr uses Dig. And practice.

New battle items for this gen include the somewhat easy to get but unknown to most are the snowball in a random wild battle on Route 17 and Luminous Moss found in a random battle in the glittering cave. Other ones are the weakness policy and assault vest. They are just as useful in battle as the other really helpful items out there.
