Heroes of the Storm

Since it's the first MOBA I've ever played, I find it interesting and challenging. It does get a little repetitive after a while but it's my new "addiction", I play it for at least a few hours every day. The games are relatively quick and they're fun for the most part. 

Have you given it a try? What do you think of it? 

If you're a seasoned MOBA player how do you think it compares to other games of its kind?

Heroes of the Storm has a fairly short timeframe for each match, which makes it much easier to play.  I think the community is a lot better than League of Legends in terms of toxicity as well, but somehow there are a few mechanics that are a bit weird to me.  For instance, Blizzard's desire to make come-backs more likely makes some games feel especially strange.  Like our team will be pushing hard and winning, but some of the enemy team's mercenary camps push and destroy our core.  

I think since I've played mostly League of Legends until now, the idea that NPCs can push and win games like that is a bit disorienting.

I've been playing MOBAs since DoTA 1 and i've tried them all. When the HoTS beta came around, I thought Blizzard is trying to make yet another LoL clone. It turns out they didn't.  The experience sharing format is a good way to reduce toxicity. People can't flame you if you can't fall behind. The mechanics are easy and forgiving, making the game great for new players. Also, you can have Illidan ride a rainbow unicorn. Can't get that anywhere else.

While I agree that right now it is less toxic and the gameplay itself does not promote as much toxicity, as the game grows, so will the amount of toxic players. HoTS to me seems like a fun casual game to play for a little bit but it does not feel competitive at all and feels like it is missing something. The idea that you could be dominating your opponent which only shows up in being a few levels ahead, really takes the sense of accomplishment out of it for me, when compared to other MOBA's like dota and LoL.  Now company's are pushing for HoTS to get into the competitive scene with events, and leagues, and tournaments because they know that's where more money is but I can't see myself watching it.

Blizzards entry into the Moba scene is a bit watered down than "traditional" mobas. But its simplified nature isn't necessarily a bad thing. Bit of a bad timing on Blizzards part though with Mobas coming out left and right, especially since their game (Warcraft 3) was the game that spawned the genre as it is now with custom games.
