Okay the first thing you need to do is make sure it is plugged in. A cord may not have been properly inserted and may have slipped out or come loose. Secondly, Mario has nothing to do with this question as you playing it is just a coincidence, so I am moving this to Q&A area. Third, can you describe the actual problem in detail if it consists, please? I mean, when you hit power no lights or anything turn on? Can you hear the fan / motor or CD spinning or anything?

That isn't a technique I would advise doing again in the future unless looking to break the console.

You obviously never owned a regular NES or a television in the 80's. Banging the sides worked wonders, actually.
